Nobody is stopping anyone from talking about any of the 87 prospects in the auto checklist. Oh wait, I forgot, everyone is targeting someone and can't let anyone know if someone might be good as it will mess up their future flip.

My LCS has a hobby case at $3,600. No judgment on anyone else’s decisions, but I’m not doing that (even in my YOLO wedding weekend).

I’m in agreement with those suggesting to buy singles. I used to open multiple cases of every bowman product up until 2019ish. It became essentially a lottery ticket, so I now open 0.

2022: What I hoped would happen: Fanatics/Topps cut out the middle-men and pass the savings on the consumer by offering retail prices ($150-$175) to individual collectors who wanted to avoid the inflated secondary market prices. After all, direct to consumer is what Fanatics does, presumably.

2024: What did happen: Fanatics/Topps were jealous of the middle-men and decided to cut them out and increase the prices on retail ($270) to what they think the secondary market will get.

So, in the end, I'm not angry, just disappointed (but not surprised) by the state of things.

That's why I'm not feeling the "buzz" about 2024 Bowman because at $270 per box of hobby and 1 autograph of probably a marginal prospect, I feel that, at that price, the value isn't there. But since Topps effectively controls the price going forward, there's not as much chance of a true market correction. So, that means, I won't be able to enjoy buying a hobby box.

I am not trying to add to the negativity here, only trying to explain why release day for Bowman saddens me.

2026: What will happen. Sales will continue to drop in response to high costs and limited returns. What's more, collectors priced out of core products will leave the hobby entirely, rather than migrating to Big League, which -- coupled with another Mike Trout season-ending injury -- will result in a massive drop in card prices.

That's better than what a LCS here in Northwestern Wisconsin is selling them at. $325 for hobby and $600 for jumbo. Not surprised by their prices because nothing in their store is ever priced. You interested in one of there singles whether is in a box or display case, they'lll look up the most recent comps and sell you it at those prices. Ridiculous!!!!!!!
