Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Maybe someone whose plan is to file an inventory loss insurance claim? I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist, but with what is described here, it wouldn’t surprise me. Now that I think about it, nothing surprises me anymore

Not a person, a company. Memory Lane auctions, for a show.

You know you are at a cheap hotel when one of their benefits listed is Free ESPN on the marquee😉

Also, if I read the article correctly, it said there were 14 total cards, and for that small of a package why would one of the employees of memory lane not take them with them on the plane?

Maybe Memory Lane was in on it.

Can we get some conspiracy theorists and Occam’s Razor misusers from the Ohtani gambling threads to weigh in here?

I've successfully consigned with Memory Lane, but yeah, why those cards of that value weren't hand-carried is a little disturbing.

All these companies seems to cut corners so they can profit more and then when it finally hits them, it really hits them

Why oh why weren't these transported in someone's carry on luggage? 54 slabs must only be 5-10 pounds. Put the cards in your roller bag and go.

Cards were on West Coast, rep was on East, according to the reason given on 54.

I only know what was written in the article about this situation and based on that there was a massive lapse in judgement. No idea who ML's insurance carrier is but I highly doubt they have coverage for this and they either know or will find out that they did not adhere to the terms of their coverage.

If you want to see idiotic...https://www.net54baseball.com/showth...=349169...some of these posts are laughable.

It's literally next to the show venue. In prior years the show was in the hotel conference room

54 cards. Could still easily fit in a small case unless some were oversized slabs

Wouldn’t have been more than $1000 to fly that rep to the west coast, pick up the cards, and fly him to the show. Or maybe send another rep?

I’m not sure George Clooney will take the call for a script about this one.

Here's an idea. Save the grand. Ship the cards to the rep at the BW for delivery on a day he will be there and not 3 days prior.

I have had good experiences with MLI, but after this one would not consign with them. Service wise REA is awesome, and size wise and inventory Heritage is awesome.

Ship the cards to the rep on the east coast and he puts them in his carry on. NO added expense. Or have box held at Fed Ex in Strongsville till rep can pick it up.
