Definitely an uninspiring start. I did some digging on players who had similar 7 game stretches...

The record for most strikeouts in a 7 game span is held by 4 players:

Dexter Fowler, CJ Cron, Chris Carter, and Jerry Koosman


But here's some hope for our young padawan...in his final 7 games of his forgettable rookie season, Mike Schmidt went 0-25 with 17 strikeouts. No matter how things go this year, I'm sure Holliday will be just fine.

I don’t think “fine” is what his collectors are hoping/praying for.

I remember Bregman being 1-32 to start his career though he wasn't striking out as much.

Holliday could be OK or he could be like a thousand other guys and just not have it in the pros. People were saying Torkelson would be fine two years ago. We'll just have to wait and see.

He will be fine long-term, but if you bought into him hoping to flip, that train left last week. He's baseball royalty but has less than 600 ABs in the minors - not everyone is griffey.

I have zero cards of his perhaps help providing some unbiased perspective. While the start is ice cold, it's still a very small sample size. Most forget that Bobby Witt was below the Mendoza line the first couple weeks to start last year. I find it hard to believe a guy with a 1.077 OPS in AAA would suck this bad for very long. I'm not convinced he's going to be a major power threat but plate productivity is bound to come with time. Like the post above said, not everyone can be Griffey.
