I'll tell you who is not killing it...Cactus League attendance. The Cubs are down for certain. I've heard from a reliable source that Camelback Ranch (Dodgers, White Sox) is down as well. Those are the two highest attended stadiums, so it's pretty likely that the Cactus League as a whole is down.

I might be bias because I PC Blaze Alexander but he’s on fire.Even if he makes Opening Day he will be a backup.Blaze is tied for most hits in Spring Training (21) with Wyatt Langford & Hoy Park. Its going be fun watching him this season and I can’t wait.

Would be interesting to see who has the best stats compared to their team's average.

Corbin Carroll seeing the ball really well against LHP this spring

vs RHP:
8 for 38 - .211 BA
10K & 2 BB (.250 OBP)

vs LHP:
8 for 15 - .533 BA
1K & 3 BB (.579 OBP)

If he's made those improvements, I think we may be looking at best player in baseball contention this season

I remain cautious and skeptical. I'm avoiding him in fantasy drafts due to the shoulder scare last July...

2023 through July 6 (shoulder injury, left game):
  • .269 ISO, 20 2B, 3 3B, 18 HR in 335 PA.

2023 July 7th-on:
  • .168 ISO, 10 2B, 7 3B, 7 HR in 310 PA.

2023 Postseason:
  • 2 HR in 78 PA (.136 ISO).

2024 Spring:
  • 0 HR in 55 PA (.100 ISO).

Looking back...from what I can find, he got checked out, no structural damage, and he was back the next day after the shoulder scare in July. I thought his season was over (like Tatis when he folded after a swing)

He continued to hit (similar AVG, BB%, K%), continued to steal bases at a very high rate and high success rate. Avg EV barely dropped, but barrel% did drop from 9.4% to 5.5% (before/after July 6).

I still see a one-hand follow through. What I don't know is whether he's changed how he swings, is he limiting the degree to which he opens up on the follow through? I wish we had bat speed measurements (I think it exists, not sure where to find it).

Here's an unrelated article that goes into detail on how gains in bat speed impact batted ball distance:
https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/20...-of-bat-speed/

If Carroll has lost bat speed, expect more 2B/3B and fewer HR. Especially those oppo HRs. I count 10 opposite field, 3 straight away center, 12 pulled last year (25 total).

https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savan...-r-hitting-mlb

He could turn into a ~15 HR hitter.

They left off this guy. Stacked up on Hicks cards this offseason so I’m biased but think he has a shot to be great

Darrel Hernaiz makes the As roster. No announcement on position which is concerning. Don’t want him to be a utility guy!

Had a great spring with passable defense so let’s see him get off to a good start and make it hard to bench him.

Joey Gallo: 4 for 39, 2b, 4 BB, 16 K, good for .103/.186/.123.

Blaze Alexander is in the same boat he should be on the roster.Sadly he’s going be used as a utility guy unfortunately.I much rather him playing for Reno and getting his at bats.
