I bought a 2023 Bowman Chrome WBC /499 of him for a whopping $6.50 less than the last one sold for. So no, not really.

I believe him, and I'm surprised by the number of people who don't. He'd say something much less forceful and much more wishy-washy if he was the one gambling I think.

If he's lying (which I don't think he is), he should kill himself. He represents more than baseball and a two-way player. He represents the pride of an entire country. Doing wrong and then lying about it while having that weight on your shoulders is unfathomable and I don't think he's capable of both.

In regards to his cards, I've seen a bunch of cards up for sale since last week that I haven't seen in a while for prices lower than they've been.

Realize that this sounds salty, but I'll say it. Ippei was never a great interpreter. He was especially bad in 2018 in Ohtani's rookie year and paraphrased many things that changed the context of what Ohtani said.

There were a few cases where he misinterpreted things and caused unnecessary swirl. An example is when he lazily translated that Ohtani's "only focus is to win and that's that" as if he was issuing an ultimatum to the angels. In reality, Ohtani said that losing is hard and it makes him feel regrettable. Two completely different things, but reporters used Ippei's translation as headline.

I've joked a few times that I could probably do a better job than Ippei but I felt that if he's Ohtani's loyal friend and dedicates his life to him, he's alright by me. Now it all makes sense since this dude didn't even graduate college. My head is still spinning.

Will Ireton is a lot more accurate than Ippei. So that's something to look forward to.
