Card looked great before it was chopped up -- well centered with square corners. It took me many years to realize this, but grading creates far more problems than it solves.

Never get cheated.

Just here to say, this was a purchase, crack, alter, submit, grade return, and sale all in 25 days! A veritable factory. Thanks for all the work you do on these. Has anyone done an estimate on just how many cards were purchased by these accounts, and how many subs to PSA they had? Must be in the many many thousands.

There is really no way of knowing.
There are many cards that cannot be confirmed as altered due to poor photos or scans or the cards were purchased offline.
This includes many high grade vintage with bat-eared corners or ultra sharp corners that you highly suspect are trimmed but can't verify due to the lack of sufficient or existing images.

Blowout member DragonWagon created a fantastic website for all of the altered, stolen and fake/counterfeit cards that are known and it can be found here: https://www.tiffanycards.com/altered-card-database/cert

I had a slightly different question which is about the universe of “possible” - or the count of things which passed through their hands.

Something like total graded card purchases between psa 4 and psa 8 or totaling up cert numbers which can be grouped into batches to same order …. Just to give an estimate

And knowing that it’s going to be hard to prove anything on most

CGC really could take an important step forward to being "The Best Grading Service for Cards" if they referenced actual dimensions/measurements of a graded card to Cert #. I don't see PSA/SGC ever doing something like that unless it's forced upon them...

Won't help with Tuttle estimates, but there's an active lawsuit which has recently produced some submission details from another known trimmer. Hopefully more info will come out, but one example discussed was a submission with 87 (61%) of the 142 cards being detected as altered, yet Beckett still didn't think there was an issue with the submitter. 2005 - 2019 is likely thousands of cards.

https://x.com/Paul_Lesko/status/1779148442339586087

https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1304959

Some other submission data from the basketball forums.

https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpo...&postcount=140

Likely related to all the great work Corndog, 312, Superdan,.... did with the various trimming threads, Beckett allegedly "flagged" the account in 2019.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing. I have always heard that this man and a partner of his were the biggest card doctors in the modern hobby, literally for decades when it was not widely known to be done to newer cards. Seeing as how they are rather prominent in the world of card doctoring, is there not a thread devoted to these guys? I tend to overestimate things, but I'd bet these guys alone are responsible for tens of thousands of altered cards, and supposedly they ran in a circle of other guys who did the same work. As these records show, basically their entire orders consisted of trimmed cards, and they likely submitted several thousand grading orders between all companies during those 20 years. Unreal!

Rattle had a video last month that showed how the Kevin Burge/Keith Koenig fraud operation extended to high-priced Pokemon cards as well.

Whoa, thanks, I'll have to watch this later. Don't have a good connection right now. So far as I've heard, this group EXCELLED at rare MJ and other mid/late 90s hoops inserts. Would be tremendously ironic and comical and absurd to know how many cards in Nat Turner's collection were subbed by them. 100s if not 1,000s is my guess. Potentially 10s of millions in value given how expensive that stuff has gotten. Still don't understand why they don't have their own massive thread. Maybe they were just really good at covering their tracks?

Crazy how much cardboard was chopped off with this one. Reasonable people can debate how much is ineptitude and how much is corruption in the hallowed halls of PSA. What a money-making racket.
