Default Need some help: 1934A $500 note

Posted this on the PMG forum as well but I thought I would ask here as well.

I have an opportunity to buy this from a friend. He said he purchased it many years ago and now wants to sell it.

I'm pretty new to paper money. Can anyone help me as far as grade, value and if it's counterfeit? Thanks for any help! Should I get this graded? There is a small tear at the "FIVE" about 3/4" long.

that tear is ugly. I'd pass (or) I wouldn't pay %500 for it with the tear. I'm sure its worth more though. I cant help on the grade perhaps others can chime in. Its Really cool Don't Get me wrong. You never see these anymore. Hell you never saw them back then. Thanks for posting. Good Luck either way when you decide

Does the tear really downgrade the "grade" on the note or is that something you don't like on notes? Trying to figure out if it's worth it to purchase this note.

tear in paper is the same as a tear on a sports card as far as grading goes
tear = bad news, unless the tear is factored into price

First off the bill is 100% authentic. How much is your friend looking to get for it?

He told me he would sell it to me for $650. I think I might have a little more wiggle room due to the tear.

I think you would be able to make money at $650, but I would shoot for 600. Very nice note though!

I was able to get the note for $600. Hope there's some profit margin!

Just wanted to update this...finally got around to grading this. It's more for preservation and if I hand it down then kids will know it's 100% real. I know the tear hurt the grade but I had no idea of "Mule". Since I'm still not big into currency...is Mule considered a more "rare" item? Anyways, here are the scans!

beautiful $500.

Graded paper bills look damn sweet in those PCGS holders.
