They don’t even need to spend much. Just a little.

They need to get one starter via FA and then trade from their treasure trove of prospects to get another starter. Or even 2. They’ve got enough guys where it wouldn’t even make a dent if they lost a couple, like if they sent Cowser and Norby away, it wouldn’t even matter

I think the Orioles were going to have a dynasty (or something close to one) over the next 5 or so seasons even if the Angelos hadn't sold before Peter died. But now that better ownership will be in place, the team will be more well-positioned to win multiple championships, and the dynasty will be more sustainable over the next decade.

I think they have the pieces offensively but I was nowhere near confident that they would be aggressive enough with how bad the Angelos are to spend what they need to, to fix the areas

Because they’ve proven they can develop hitters, but they’ve yet to prove they can develop pitching to the level that you need to win big games. They have some nice pieces but that rotation looks way better if they go out and spend to get Montgomery or pull the trigger on a young starter like a Luzardo/Keller/Cease anything like that

Are we set for both the Dodgers and Orioles to be perennial 100 win teams for the next 5-7 years? Who knows how the playoffs shake out but it looks like both these teams are in an incredibly dominant position for the near future. I know, I know it's baseball and nothing is certain, but dang.

Agree - the Angelos Ownership Group has been a discouraging roadblock to sustained success for decades. The clamp on our leg that’s been holding us back from moving forward as an organization focused on winning is finally being removed!

Until now, the Team was run with a plan to keep payroll as low as possible, which lets the O’s profit regardless of the win / loss record —- putting a winning team on the field was never a consideration ~ just bring in revenue that exceeds expenses

I'd put the Braves ahead of the Orioles, but all three teams have major questions in their pitching rotations that would keep me from getting too excited about a string of 100-win seasons. Any of them could go on a run, but it will require new players or prospects to develop into strong starters.

Now let's get this Nationals sale to Lerner closed and resolve the MASN malarkey once and for all.

Lets go O's! They should build a new stadium outside of downtown Baltimore.

Why? Camden Yards is beautiful, that would be a travesty

I think it may be a leap to assume a few private equity guys are going to be the ones to rectify this problem. If you’re familiar with the carlyle group at all, I don’t think you are gonna say yea that’s the guy I want running my baseball team.

Hopefully this isn’t the case as they have a tremendous amount of talent to
Build on and could be really really good for a long time

I welcome ANY Group over the Angelos Group - I’ve seen for decades where the leads, and it’s not to a Fan based approach ( or any Fan concern at all…. )

Simply ( maybe that’s my naivety) want an Owner with the vision of a Win / Win philosophy- good for the owners operating profitably AND good for the Fans. I know it can be and has been done elsewhere ~ just want to see it happen here in Baltimore

Giants are my team but A’s have always been number two. Been to at least 30 games at the Oakland Coliseum…and though fun, it’s a crap (and fairly empty) ballpark lol.

Lots of good memories though. Even better after I/friends started BARTing and stopped parking at the BART station parking lot.

Nice try John, I know an Angelos burner account when I see one.

This. I think it's way too early to be excited about the change in ownership.

It's good to remember that, for all the harm the Angelos family has done to the Orioles, the Angelos sons seemed to have - paltry team payroll budget aside - largely stopped meddling with the actual day-to-day baseball operations during the Elias years. It's totally possible that Rubenstein comes in, presumes he knows everything about baseball because he's a billionaire, and starts getting meddlesome with how Elias and Hyde are running the team. Owners like to do that. It's also completely possible, given the background these guys have, that they immediately conclude that any further investment in the team isn't going to be of any benefit to their financial interests, and basically run the team the same way the Angelos brothers have recently. I wanted to see a new ownership that was bigger fans of the Orioles team than fans of their pocketbook, and I don't really see anything to suggest we got that here.

Good thing with all of this is that you'll know pretty quickly how good or bad these new guys are going to be for the team. They've suddenly got a glut of guys that the Orioles NEED to extend immediately, as well as a bunch of pretty earnestly compelling free agents coming off the books soon. It was pretty abundantly clear that the Angelos regime was fully prepared to extend nobody, and let all the free agents walk, as this has been the par for the course for decades with them(Chris Davis notwithstanding lol). How far these new guys diverge from that will be a pretty strong indicator of how good this ownership change is going to be for the Orioles.

How does Corbin Burnes sound?

O's are going to be a monster. I've never seen an organization this stocked with prospects in my entire life watching baseball, and I've been around several decades. Orioles didn't even trade any of their top guys to get Burnes.
