Default Let's go back 20 plus years... ThePit.com

I was into ThePit.com when Topps was in control and put together the 2002 RC Auto /10 limited set with David Wright and Joe Mauer. These have been sitting in my closet for over 20 years now and I was wondering what I should do with them. I have never seen a complete set offered anywhere before and to my knowledge I may have the only one in existence.. Are these worth sending to PSA? The all came in thick poly screw downs with "The Pit" sticker on them. I am looking for any information out there that you may have and any suggestions on what to do with these.. Obviously Mauer and Wright Auto RCs are the key cards in the set and now with Mauer getting inducted this may be the time to do something here..

Thanks in advance...

I bought quite a few of the uncirculated Bowman cards from ThePit - still have them. I haven’t graded any of mine, but I have seen several of the ‘04 Yadier Molinas (blue and xfractor chrome, silver paper) show up on pop reports - so someone has graded them in the past

Let’s go back over 30-35 years when all the largest WAX dealers in the country were on SPORTSNET a dial up service…lol which has now morphed into dealernet X

The 2004 blues were gorgeous cards

when did the pit separate from topps? never knew they controlled it...

I would say grading would be dumb since they're uncirculated already

I think they stopped after the 2005 issuances, which included the first green refractors

I disagree with this if you plan on selling. Both of those look very nice, PSA 9 minimums unless there is a blemish that cant be seen in the pictures.

PSA 10 Mauer AUTOs are bringing about $1K, David Wright $350-$500

Raw copies of Mauer are in the $350 range and David Wright anywhere from $75-$150. Most people dont know about "The Pit" and wont even consider them as being uncirculated, more would think you just threw them in those cases.

Is the only way to distinguish them as being from "The Pit" the sticker on the back? You mention they are /10 but not serial numbered. You almost need to get them graded and have PSA provide provenance to them being from "the pit" to distinguish they are /10.

Thanks, this is great info. I will be sending them in…. Should I send in the complete set of 20 ( would that be good in the psa registry, or just stick to mauer/wright…. Appreciate the suggestions….

And by the way, I totally miss the early days of the pit!
