1. Continue to slowly downsize
2. Add 20+ new HOF autographs
3. Continue to build my Rays rookie stashes/PCs
4. Work on my all-time Rays Topps Gold set and hopefully complete it
5. Pick up one of the 2006 Bowman Chrome Evan Longoria orange/red autos

2. Pickup more refractor (all colors) of Pujols in Cardinals jersey
3. Add a nice game used patch of Griffey Jr

In 2024 I want to:
- Submit my “TO GRADE” stack to SGC (happening Friday)
- Continue to add to and send in my COMC stack
- Sell my 2019 Topps Heritage Master Set
- Continue to clear out binders from when I started collecting in 2011 and sell the complete sets (Yes, one is 11 Finest)
- Continue to sell a totes worth of base cards via Flat Rate boxes
- Continue to buy player breaks of my PC players
- Buy a case of 2024 Heritage and try to complete a master set

How 2023 went:
1. Added to my rookie collection. My best purchase was a low grade 1959 Bob Gibson. Also got others including 1975 George Brett.
2. Didn't add many, if any autos.
3. Bought a lot of wax. Had some nice hits including a Spencer Jones green grass redemption auto from Bowman and a 1/1 gold vinyl P. J. Morlando from Stars and Stripes.
4. Added a ton to the Lindor collection including 2 1/1's (and already added another 1/1 this year.)

2024 goals:
1. Buy LESS wax
2. Add more rookies. I REALLY want a 1967 Topps Tom Seaver.
3. Add to my HOF signed gold plaque collection which has been dormant.
4. MORE FRANCISCO'S!

2024 Goals:
1) Much like BillBanning above, I have a stack of vintage to submit to SGC
2) Much like BillBanning again, I am adding to a four-row to send to COMC and buying lots on here. COMC will fund #1 above, and #3 below.

3) Add to my vintage collection via raw and SGC with emphasis on eye appeal and grades between 2-7 of:
a) Baseball HOFers in general
b) Pee Wee Reese, Koufax, Gibson, and Red Sox
c) Underappreciated/undervalued football HOFers (defensive, and WR/RBs) from the
50's to the early 80's.

4) One PSA 10 of base rookies of star QBs
5) Add to my Heritage ROA Red Ink auto and submit to PSA
6) Get rid of everything else to fund the above.

3. Send off a batch of cards to PSA for grading
4. Take better photos for sharing my collection on IG.
5. Add at least 1 Bucky Jacobsen card. I need 3 non-1/1 cards. Wanted: 2005 Topps Black /54.
6. Finish my 1998 Topps Tek base set for Darin Erstad. I am missing pattern 86. For my second set, I am missing a handful of patterns: 4, 12, 59, 64, 74, 86
7. Add at least 10 new Erstad cards. I need about 106 non-1/1 cards.
6. Still missing pattern 86 but found several of the patterns I needed for my second set.

7. Added 48 1998 Tek Diffractors. Crushed this goal in first 2 weeks.

Really hoping I can add to this rainbow. 2021 Topps Jose Ramirez - covering all versions: flagship, opening day, Chrome, Ben Baller, Sapphire, factory sets, Japan, England. Just got the Japan Edition 1/1, so that is done. Still looking for the Superfractor - would pay multiples of market price if it ever shows up. Currently sitting at 81 different.

I was going to post earlier, but I hit on my bigger goals very early.

1) Finish the 2011 Topps Heritage tint set
2) Finish my 2003 - 2012 Topps Heritage refractor run
3) Add a nice Albert Pujols RC (coming soon )
4) Build a respectable trade pile for the National
5) Cross some slabs to PSA at the National
6) Consolidate!
7) Add some nice Barry Bonds inserts and an auto from his playing days

I won’t mark number 6 as done yet, but it’s close. I’ve sold quite a bit in the last 3 weeks which really helped out with #3. Having a little stash of cash around (from selling cards) gave me the flexibility to scoop up a great card.

Congrats on the tint set, that's a big one!

Great thread, have enjoyed reading through the resplies

For me...I would say slowing down a bit...enjoying each and every card that comes into my possession

&

Getting to more shows - the internet is fantastic...but I enjoy putting my hands on cards and interacting / mingling with collectors in real time

Added 3 new Diffractor patterns from 1998 Topps Tek for my Erstad run. I've now got 52 of 89 patterns.

I’ve got one.

I need a way to display my cards in my house. The Amazon item was flimsier than I hoped. May just do floating shelves, but I hate the thought of the kid within reach of MY CARDS

Good one. My son is 9 now and doesn't mess with my stuff anymore. Might be time to display more around my desk space.

Progress...
1. WHOOPS: I've gone backward on this in quarter boxes, etc., from the shows. lol.
2. COMPLETED: I added a GU Eddie Murray bat and another Erstad.
3. WHOOPS: I haven't started, but it should not be too far away.
4. IN PROGRESS: Doing better with this.
5. COMPLETED: I forget what it was, but I have added one this year.
6. CRUSHED IT: Completed two 90-card base sets. I am also up to 50 unique Diffractors.
7. IN PROGRESS: I'm sure I've added seven cards. I picked up a few last week.

How 2023 went

1. Clear out all non-player collection cards and sell those to other player/team collectors
2. Have Aaron Kurcz sign the final 6 cards I need to complete my IP collection for his stuff
3. Submit 100+ cards to PSA
4. Continue selling off my Will Clark & Eddie Murray player collections
5. Sort and checklist my Stacey Augmon collection
6. Add at least 20 cards to my Darin Erstad collection. I only need about 125 non-1/1 cards.
7. Add at least 1 Bucky Jacobsen card. I need 3 non-1/1 cards. Want 2005 Topps Black /54.
8. Continue enjoying the hobby on my terms

I added a game-used/signed Eddie Murray bat and a 1992 All-Star game-issued/signed bat by Will Clark.

I'll review my eBay account to see what key cards I added this year. It was a good year!

Added several 1998 Topps Tek Diffractors to my Darin Erstad collection. My progress is 20/90.

Added more 1999 Topps Tek Golds, including many doubles. I'm currently halfway done with the run at 30/60.

My son (9) has taken to cards this year. He's really into all basketball (especially Anthony Edwards) and Twins stuff in baseball. We attended his first trade night about a month ago. He loved it! It's been a lot of fun to share the collecting experience with him.

Good bump OP.
1) Done!
2) I am very close. 15 cards away
3) Done, added 3!
4) Sorta did, and made 1 trade.
5) Done
6) Done everything I can for now. Rented a table at a decently sized local show at the end of September, so this will be much more complete after that.
7) Added the auto, wouldn’t mind nailing down 1 more nice insert before the end of the year.

For 2024:

1. Find a sharp low grade '53 Paige to round out a Topps-era HOF pitcher project. Not a rare card by any stretch, but still searching for the right one.

2. Continued growth of a low grade Jimmie Foxx collection. The interest is still there, but even low grade Foxxes have jumped in the past year. Patience.

3. A Foxx autograph. Finally got one! Cool provenance too. Postmarked out of Cooperstown Jul 24, 1951. Foxx was inducted the day before and was actually the only player in attendance that year. Connie Mack was also there to see his legendary 1B enshrined.

4. Greatly curb random modern purchases, except possibly Kershaw and an Ohtani parallel in a Dodger uni. Far fewer overall purchases in 2024, but still too many impulse pitcher buys. Can't help myself. Many nice Ohtanis as a Dodger to choose from now.

5. Cool it with Josiah Gray. Big fan, but enough is enough. Only 3 Josiah buys in all of 2024. He's out until probably 2026, so close enough.

6. Decide on a new "theme" now that #1 is coming to an end. Still undecided. Thought about Dodger Hall of Famers, 300 strikeout seasons, and lefty Cy Young/MVP winners, but not enough to do anything with it. Maybe I don't need a theme to stay interested after all..

2024 GOALS:

1. Complete my second 2020 FF refractor set.
2. Open 10 2020 FF boxes (hopefully more!)
3. Add 100 Refractors and 3 Superfractors to 2020 FF collection
I've only added 40 thus far. I'm not too far away from completion but its not easy. I want to finish it so I can move to the gold set for 2025.

Impressive stuff with the 2020 FFs. Always cool to see people master set collecting these days, seems pretty rare.

Not sure if I made an initial post in this thread but my goal has been to go all-in with the 1997 Finest set. I’m trying to have the refractor set (B/S/G) completed by year end. I’m about 10 cards total away, but the problem is some of these just dont pop up on any of the marketplaces. Even like a random mid-tier silver ref.

If I can get that done, then it’ll be slowly chipping away at the embossed refs from here on out (over years).

Glad we have this little reminder so I can get back on track:
  • start selling off non-pc autos/parallels/rcs - SLOW START - about 20% listed on eBay, maybe 10% sold
  • finish incomplete pro debut and heritage minors sets - SUCCESS
  • open some stashed boxes instead of buying any new wax (aside from pd and minors) - SUCCESS - waiting on my pre-ordered pro debut, and ended up buying 2 boxes of heritage since heritage minors was cut (I figured that was fair). Otherwise have opened some 2019-2023 heritage, HHN, and pro debut.
  • clear out my pre-2022 traders - IN PROGRESS - everything is gone except some heritage minors and pro debut base AND the cards I pulled in the previously mentioned rips
  • pick up 3 target vintage cards - SUCCESS - '63T Rose RC, '55T Koufax RC, '48B Spawn RC

Edited to add: I did add another hobby focus around sf giants flagship gold parallels and heritage variations/refractors. I've made a ton of progress already and that will be my main acquisition focus for 2025 as well.

- no more building sets from wax ( considering Fanatics run the presses 24/7 ) ...factory / complete sets are cheaper and you get nice bonus RC's.
- singles...singles...singles...again, cheaper than wax.
- invest in more graded cards.
- get back into vintage.

Even now, I could not have said it better to me, myself, and I. Have a scosche left to part with. Still have a chase. Even secrets to collect harder than most
