In all honesty, they are not as strong nor brisk as I would of hoped. But I'm speaking for stuff under $100.

Not sure if being in the off-season is the reason or maybe a foil stock release. Maybe it's just my experience.

Nah you can killed on this..small sample size but my 4 boxes yieleded basically nothing good outside of a pete alonzo unnumbered auto. Best parallel i pulled was a black kenley jansen (i doubt he sells well). I'll end up bulk listing the base but I'm not sure I'd clear $100 with what I pulled

Looks like it finally sold out on Topps. Got some in my cart and the order wouldn't process. Now getting "quantity not available" and then tried to re-add them to my cart and got "product you are trying to add is unavailable"

Sucks that they're no longer available on Topps.com. It was nice being able to order 3-4 boxes every few days (went the safe route with creating new accounts) for $81-$83 shipped per.

Fortunately, Buffalo still has them available for $94.95 (or less depending on tier) per.

Probably a combination of post Christmas belt tightening and the off season. What’s nice about this product is that they’re all relevant for another three years at minimum since no one will be getting traded from their countries. It might be a very good product to sit on for a few years for the next WBC.

It's up there with 2021 TC NPB, 2022 Topps Japan Edition & 2022 Ben Baller in terms of sheer enjoyment. 2021 TC NPB had the set building aspect, lots of different color but there wasn't a chase on par with some of the Ohtani stuff in 2023 WBC. 2022 Baller (at MSRP) was a favorite due to black refractor base, a good rookie class with a few headliner names (now minus Wander). I'm not sure I could rank it ahead of 2022 Topps Japan, especially at initial MSRP, because that DID have chase cards on par with 2023 WBC. Hell, there were 198 Ohtani Cherry Blossoms you could pull that were doing close to $1k each. Add in the cherry trees, the cherry tree parallels, autos, low #'d JRod/Witt. That was a dream product from a value standpoint. WBC is maybe a bit more fun to open because of the novelty aspect of non-MLB players, WBC relics & photos, etc.

Nice, love that it's a "real" game-used card.

I never ripped 2022 Topps Japan Edition but always read how much fun ya'll had with it. It didn't interest me at the time, but knowing what I now know (especially after ripping 2021 TC NPB and 2022 Bowman NPB), I wish I bought some at MSRP to rip. They were available for so long, whether it be Topps.com or Amazon.com.

Glad to hear that 2023 WBC is comparable to that and 2021 TC NPB though, definitely enjoyed my 2021 TC NPB despite not hitting big names and having a number of damaged cards lol.

Maybe. I actually had my best week of the year on ebay last week. Maybe, people buying for themselves after not getting anything :-)

The great part about this is the really low cost of entry and huge top end hits. Hard to find a cost/value ratio like this. I think I put it in my Topps Gift of Year Nominees up there with Bob Ross haha

Low cost, high reward. Pretty good floor when ripping in volume too. It certainly doesn't hurt that there doesn't seem to be many (if any) redemptions.

I'd love to see someone create a thread of all the potential 2023 Topps Gift of the Year.

Agreed on low cost with the possibility of some big cards. Most of the big names sell well along with the Japanese players. After that it’s ohtani in another stratosphere.

I almost passed on this and decided to buy 4 last night after watching some boxes opened on YouTube. I see they sold out today so I am glad I pulled the trigger last night. I just received shipping notification from Topps so hopefully they will be here soon.

I picked up 3 after seeing some breaks, and they should arrive tomorrow. Having seen many more now - and online sales - the FOMO here is a little out of control. It's clearly enough of a value to break, but folks are getting a little carried away in their idea of what a typical box is going to produce.

...I'm only referring to breaking, btw. None of this applies to those who correctly saw an opportunity to buy and flip sealed boxes/cases.

Very true. Singles are sort of weirdly inflated; I don't expect Randy Arozarena Golds to sell for $35 shipped much longer. Could be wrong, we will stay how much staying power the WBC has. Team Samurai is the only one I think will retain significant value.

At $80 shipped, these are a really fun break with a great shot at positive at positive EV. At $120 shipped, these aren't anywhere as good. Still lots of breaks where your best hit is an unnumbered Jonathan Aranda auto. Although, box openers have proven to be very bad judges of EV, and cases that produce 0.5 EV are ripped as quickly as they come in. Sooo... I'd expect these to continue jumping in price. But, they're still really fun. Your odds at any Shohei auto are roughly 1:263 boxes. Probably as good as you're going to do in any $80 product until Shohei retires.

You make great points. While EV isn’t slam dunk per say. The value is better than the majority of breaks and the patch autos sell well. To me, the difference with this product:

Game used pieces of WBC base (very unique)
Japanese branded cards with some big names
