Potentially. I was never part of that keeping purgatory out of the story mindset, I actually kind of expected that from the first season on.

I wouldn’t say it polarized me, I just did not like it. I understood it, just wish they had answered more. The stupid growling beast that never got answered bothers me to this day! If it was a T-Rex, that would have been lame, but it would have been an answer!

The growling beast was the Smoke Monster. So the Man in Black.

I guess maybe…I always saw them as two separate things. The black smoke is really just the man in black or the protector of the island, and the roar was heard when the smoke wasn’t around.

It could be, I am sure that is a convenient way to wrap things up. The smoke though brings up many more questions that seemed in the end the answer to every question was the smoke or the man in black. Seemed like a cop out to end the show as they knew they weren’t getting another season.

"Foundation" and "For All Mankind" are terrific, but I didn't consider them since they are still ongoing, same with "Boys" and "Black Mirror".

The new Golden Age continues...

If I remember correctly the Smoke Monster wasn't a thing until Jacob killed the man in black and dumped his body in the water. The island washed him away, took away his physical form, and turned him in to the Smoke Monster which necessitated the need for the cork. The man in block could never leave so as the smoke Monster he manipulated Ben in to killing Locke, bringing Lockes body back to the island, so he could take Lockes form. That's why the Monster was constantly scanning humans on the island. He was looking for a loophole.

Never thought of my Top 10 before, I know I have a very clear Top 4 shows for me, with then a ton of others in the mix after that.

In no particular order (as I can never figure one out) my Top 4 are

The Office
Parks and Rec
Sons of Anarchy
Monk

Yea, I'm probably the only person who will have Monk on there list in this thread, but I shouldn't be, just an outstanding show with other world level acting by Tony Shalhoub

After that there are a ton of shows that I'd consider for a top 10, some based on re-watchability, others just on quality of the show. In no order, just as they come to mind, and I'm sure there are a few that I'll forget, but should belong here

Home Improvement
Big Bang Theory
Modern Family
Fresh Prince
Friends
Suits
Seinfeld
Entourage
Ted Lasso
Numb3ers
Las Vegas
Scrubs
Two and a Half Men

Also, special shout-out to some of the cartoons the offspring watch. Spidey and His Amazing Friends and Hampster and Gretel on Disney+ are excellent. H&G has some of that same DNA as other cartoons for kids that have some references that only adults will get.

MASH
Cheers
Night Court (the original)
Babylon 5
Law & Order SVU
Big Bang Theory
The Simpsons
Burn Notice

Blacklist
Billions
24
Burn Notice
The League
Succession
NCIS: LA
Blue Mountain State
Big Mouth
Brickleberry

First 5 are in order. No order after that.

I skimmed each post, but didn’t recall anyone listing The League. I would love for this to be released again. Probably more so than any of the shows I listed that are no longer on.

Ah, Duckman and The Critic. How could I forget those.

I'll add on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, which I found to be brilliant.
