It’s true that Seager’s bad luck with injuries ha hampered yet another season. However, he is having what is otherwise one of the more extraordinary offensive seasons in a while—particularly for a shortstop.

He’s played only 104 games, which is a tad less than two-thirds of a season. And yet he has 41 doubles and 31 homers, for a total of 72 extra-base hits. That’s a 162-game pace of 112 xbh, which would be the third most all-time behind only Babe Ruth in ‘21 and Gehrig in ‘27.

Even if he were able to play 155 games, that would put him on pace for 107 xbh, which would tie for third most in a season with Bonds (‘01) and Chuck Klein (1930).

There have only been 15 100-xbh seasons in history, so this pace is in itself quite extraordinary. Of course, Seager won’t het there, because he missed a month or so with injury. But the dude is for real. And if could just stay healthy……

As it is, he qualifies for the rate stats, and leads the AL in average, slugging, and OPS.

A monster season that deserves to be recognized. And, similar to sentiments expressed about Yordan, hopefully he can stay healthy and show us what he’s capable of doing in a full, post-shift season.

Right on & well said 👍 Corey has had an absolute superstar year so far yet stays under the radar somehow. I’ve been keeping up with the Rangers this year and have been nothing short of amazed at how consistent he’s been. What a move by the Rangers…

Even missing time with injury, I’d say he’s justifying the contract.

He is such a great hitter, Texas picked up a big time winner and WS MVP!

Great to see this thread come back! I love Seager and hope he keeps up the current pace and gets to the postseason with Texas this year.

I realistically don’t see anyone winning MVP over Ohtani unless something truly historic happens along the way. Like, JRod homering in 15 straight games and taking Seattle to the playoffs.

I think Jrod has better chance than Seager to challenge Ohtani, but odds are like less than 1%

But would love to see Seager win the batting title, maybe a slash line triple crown and finish above 180 wRC+

Well he is definitely not capitalizing on his opportunity lol

IIRC he is now 1-15 since Friday, including 0 for last 12. Three straight hitless games for the first time all year. Got pulled early from two games as the Rangers were getting walloped in Cleveland. Mini-slump and losing streak could spell end to any awards and the postseason.

One of 4 multiple World Series MVP winners.. and only Reggie Jackson & Corey Seager have done it with different teams. Unbelievable!

Shared this one a few years ago, but looks like the link is gone.

Wrong uni, I know, but it always makes me smile.

One of his rarest rookie cards out there. 2016 Topps Update US167 SSP. The last one I heard of was auctioned on eBay years ago. I may have shared it before, here it is again!

Yeah that’s definitely not a Seager that you’ll see out in the wild. Great find back then 👍

I own the 1/1 silver framed version of this card.

I guess its the non SP version, he's at a different point in his swing. So just the normal US167

I was going to say, it's probably the regular version. I didn't think they did parallels of flagship shortprints. I also got confused about this card and the home run derby card. I actually traded a David Ortiz Topps Chrome SP (Showing World Series Rings) back in 2016/17 for the SSP. Kinda ironic what Seager has done since then.

Yeah I went a little crazy on Seager stuff between 2011-2016 and have a pretty extensive collection packed away. I know at one point I nearly had his bowman BCP125 rainbow, was just missing the super. Had a good stack of the Bowman Variations as well.

I think he even surpassed what I expected of his career up to this point. He just doesn't get the recognition he deserves sadly.

Two of my favorite cards - picked up the Target parallel this year, and the Walmart parallel at the NSCC in Atlantic City in 2022

I didn’t know these existed. I’m assuming these are quite rare?

And am I seeing it right, that the Walmart version is a sticker auto but the Target version is on-card?

I remember trying to hunt those down. Awesome cards, picked up a lot of the non-auto ones. These and the Archives Variation are my favorite RC's of his.
