Christmas Break w/ Luni

Wanted to make the topic now as I have time to do it previewing this break and explaining why we bought stuff. We always try to do a bunch of boxes and split draft everything but its been a struggle the last couple years obviously as stuff has exploded.

This year I got introduced pretty early to some of the TMall/Asia products and was impressed. The no guarantee per box/case is scary but hoping to not get Panini'd on this stuff.

2022/23 Obsidian TMall Case: This quickly showed to be a really good value product and the floods look a lot better than the hobby parallels imo. Snagged this at the intro pricing and its about double that now which is nice.

2022/23 Revolution TMall Case: The format for this changed a lot becoming a 1 pack product/box instead of 12 packs, but from the tiny bit I've seen they did a good job of turning this into a Choice style product. Usually multiple numbered cards a box.

2022/23 Hoops TMall 10 Boxes: 21/22 Hoops Tmall was part of last Christmas break when it was super discounted on here so figured we'd go back to the well again. The parallels usually look super nice.

2022/23 Chronicles TMall 6 Boxes: This also seemed to become a super valuable product with 2 guaranteed cards /48 and very high auto rate compared to everything else on this list. Like that everything is a parallel and there's no standard base.

2022/23 Spectra TMall 4 Boxes: Not a huge fan of the hyper style base cards in this format but willing to try a few out because the upside is pretty large. The Solar Eclipse case hits look sharp online and the RPAs/on-card autos look sharp.

2022/23 Flux FOTL 2 Boxes: The only "Hobby" boxes with a guarantee (though its Panini). We bought these off Panini so didn't know how mediocre this was going to be. Hoping for a surprise or two out of these but not feeling confident.

Got a preview picture of all the boxes (well 97% of them) together before 1/2 were sent out to me. Looked awesome together. Will update with pictures and results as they come throughout the week into next week.

Thanks everyone. Hoping we hit something nice this year. Another cool thing (for me at least) is that KG has some pulls in almost all of this stuff too so always hoping for that.

Started with a few boxes tonight, mostly Hoops and Revolution Asia w/ a single Chronicles.

Nice Jalen Williams Red /99, Tatum Green Insert /25 and Jimmy Butler /10 out of Revolution, but whiffed on autos so far in both so hopefully soon. Didn't expect to pull a Richard Jefferson auto but here we are.

Had another session last night with 6 boxes each being done. Much better than session #1 but still hoping for bigger things ahead on Christmas.

Braun /10, Keegan /10, Keels /20, Kerr /3, Booker Case Hit, KG /25 (nice one for Luni), Hart /10 and Middleton /10.

Finished the break last night. Was a ton of fun and hit a lot of really nice cards. These are just a few of the nicer cards and I'll give more of a review of each product.

Flux FOTL: Not a very good product, way too confusing and outside of the FOTL Purples and a Jabari Smith RC /75 there wasn't much. Goran Dragic and Michael Cooper autos from 2 boxes were a bit sad.

Spectra Asia: Another confusing product, the hyper design overpowers everything on it. The cool cards are cool but too infrequent, the Kerr auto saved it from being a disaster.

Hoops Asia: Its Hoops for better or worse. Like the Asia Hyper parallels but 0 Golds from 10 boxes and 2 autos made it less good than last year.

Chronicles Asia: Really solid product and you never know what to expect in each box. Wish I had gotten more of this instead of Spectra.

Revolution Asia: Didn't know what I'd think of this but it was quite fun. 2 Star Factors in Booker and Jalen Green along with 2 autos and a couple nice Gold /10s in Curry Supernova and Lillard Base. Think being slept on slightly.

Obsidian Asia: For the price we bought it at was a slam dunk decision. Don't think its nearly as worth it now but the cards are gorgeous and in pretty good condition. We got a handful of Yellow/Golds, 1 Mist and 6 Autos though 3 were redemptions.

Star Factors seem to be SSP and Asia Box exclusive this year since it's not in regular hobby

Wish I had jumped on the Obsidian Tmall boxes when they were in the $70 range - had it in my cart and it went to $99 overnight and then now at mid $100s
