Did you really expect him to coach the bowl game? With the way the transfer portal works, you can't spend time at the program you're leaving.

I'm thinking about getting back into coaching, seems to be a lot of money in not doing a good job. I will be upfront and honest with the school, "once I sign this contract and the money is mine no matter what, I'm not recruiting or coaching at 1 practice. I'll be at the games, but that's it. You can fire me know if you want and pay me my money."

no not at all.....but he should just have admitted it from the beginning, and let the team start preparing.

(in case you have not been following or could tell, i have not liked the guy since he took the job 5 years ago)

it took him less than 3 days to change his mind. him and the ad should have figured out that in the meeting they must have had before announcing anything

Something I learned in my years as a coach, all these coaches are the same. They preach family, how the team is a family, then they run as soon as somebody throws more cash their way.

There is no reason any coach should ever say he is staying to coach a bowl game at a school he is leaving. And is Indiana really a step up from James Madison? I mean conference wise it is, but do you really have a shot at being anything but a homecoming opponent? Looking at 2024, I count maybe 2 wins on that schedule.

nicer conference, but that is about it. i am sure will be harder for him his staff to recruit.

as it is now, a kid that is maybe just not good enough to go to one of the "elite" teams sees jmu as a good stepping stone or starting point. they are ranked, decent schedule, and good support. pretty sure they will pick jmu over indiana.

same thing going the other way....guys that went to bigger schools and did not play as much as they want. which of these two places do you think they will choose.
