This is a good point, his shot rates are a lot lower than they were in previous years. As a Stars fan I hope he figures it out soon but at least Roope Hintz is carrying his weight.

Campbell got sent to waivers and Oilers are bringing up a 31-year old journeyman to replace him.

It's crazy the Oilers may have to trade some good pieces to get a goalie just to make it through the season. Not an expert on hockey contracts but have to assume Campbell's signing is one of the worst of the last few years.

Waiving him to dump down to Bakersfield so Picard can come up to the show in relief of Skinner. Sound move.
Great signing Ken. Methinks most all of Holland's accumulated professional currency is close to drying up in Edmonchuk. Flushing $25M to the AHL so Jack can attempt to sort it out is getting close to the bottom of the barrel for options.

I was always skeptical if Beniers would be a juggernaut in the o-zone. I see his upside similar to Jordan Staal

Absolutely. Penguins did a nice job slowing the Ducks entries and not giving any space in the neutral zone.

Also, the high press at the blue line really threw off the rhythm.

Good coaching adjustments by Pitt after last week.

I love Ross Colton. He’s such a throwback.

I wouldn't be surprised about Holland, there's already articles asking if there needs to be new management. If any fans aren't ready to accept this kind of losing beside Toronto it's Edmonton, came in as near the top of Cup favs this season and now Vancouver is looking like the team Edmonton's supposed to be.

Love that the Leafs hired Brad Treliving, all but guaranteeing this core wont win #@#@#@#@. lol at how bad his off season moves have proven to be.

And the cherry on top is that not locking up Nylander early is only going to hurt them more down the road too.

*chefs kiss*

Really needed win yesterday for the Senators in Toronto. They played very well and scored some nice goals, albeit 1 of the 6 was a bit of a gift. Hopefully they can get it going more consistently - this seems a bad year to get too far behind early.

Sens need to float around .500 until they get their defense healthy and then put together a run. Despite being bottom of the EC, they've got the 4th best goal differential. They should start to get the results that havent been there so far.

Leo Carlsson with the hatty, might be giving Bedard a run for his money. He looks like he is much more comfortable playing with Killorn instead of Zegras.

Zegras is learning why you don’t miss camp.

Happy to see the Flyers put up some offensive numbers in that win last night.

I think the hobby world will take particular note of Mr. Carlsson now and perhaps he's the guy from this draft, at least short term. But he's not Canadian, so the hobby love may not leap off the charts. Perhaps a Peter Forsberg-esqe reaction.

Whichever way the hobby goes, Leo Carlsson looks legit.

Chelios and Jagr getting their numbers retired within weeks of each other even though players like Hossa who began their careers years or decades after they started have already had theirs raised to immortality just shows what legendary careers they had.

My early season surprises
1. Oilers. Hard to remember a team without injuries slumping this bad to start a season in any sport. Just incredible to see how badly edmonton and toronto have built around those guys.
2. Vancouver, they missed bedard by one lottery ball. Imagine where they'd be with him.
3. Boston. No one expected this. Marchand has been one of the most polarizing players in sports over the last decade, but facing major overhaul he's led a team decimated by losses to a strong start.
4. Detroit. Another team that if they'd had better lottery luck could be looking at a major situation for a long long time.
5. Blackhawks. 1/3 of their cap is guys not on the roster-keith/mccabe or salary dumps/cap manipulation-bloated foligno/perry deals, hall, the johnson for picks contract, and they're competing with ryan donato playing serious minutes. Foligno has looked great.
6. Upper Deck, bedard is as advertised, series 1 with less packs and more hits-heady days for them.
7. Leah Hextall and Emily Kaplan are employed and Chelios is not.
8. Penguins struggles. If not now, when.
9. We've probably seen the last of playoff ovechkin. Like Belichick likely to chase his stats record in mediocrity.
10. Winnipeg/Philly/Arizona-thought they'd be a lot worse.
11. Those franchise $ valuations. Most stars on American teams could walk around local malls and not be recognized. The nerds need a math lesson.
12. That 88 doesn't have a job. The game needs him healthy and with a team in June contention. Same on 19.

All solid points. Games are unwatchable when Hextall or Kaplan are involved. Not sure why the NHL feels the need to be so over-the-top inclusive. Letting everyone have a shot based on merit is great but this is Kathleen Kennedy Panderverse level stuff.

Also at this pace, 8 has absolutely zero shot at catching 99.
