Got it, thanks. I definitely won't be pre-ordering any of the Panini stuff until it's clear there are base Wembys and low-numbered parallels included in their releases. Presumably not a deal-breaker for Prizm since Prizm isn't as focused on the autos and more of the value is in the parallels, but still disappointing no autos.

There will be base and low numbered parallels in the releases, just not autos. Same as Lebron. There will be "patches" just like Lebron as well.

Maybe they simply can’t include him in the ad sheets for legal reasons? I was looking through some old Becketts from thr 90’s and they had two page spreads for sets like Ultra and Fleer but Jordan never appeared in the ads. Maybe Topps has exclusive rights to use him in their product pages?

It's possible that the contracted NBPA rights to the players are extremely narrow to just using them in the card sets, and the right to use them in advertising, websites, etc is in a broader, second contract that players have the right to opt out of.

My money is Wembanyama cannot be shown in their sellsheets (or any ads to make it obvious) as that's more of an endorsement position ... he should have basic cards as he's got to be under the blanket union deal. Also won't see him on packs or boxes as that's an extra payday spot, too.

Thats my guess too,and for every other signed player like in the top 5 that had a topps now card, they have not shown up in previews for any set. Panini is left with hyping up 2nd rd draftees lol.

This. More recently people need to think of it like the Ben Simmons chase. NT, Immaculate and Flawless base cards will be the "substitute" for RPAs. Kabooms and Downtown inserts will be even bigger chases.

Basically non autographed stuff will fill the void.

Correct. Licensed rare stuff will be > unlicensed autos.

Also just want to +1 BlowoutBuzz comment above looks like correct analysis re: why Wemby isn't on the sell sheet or packaging.

The checklist is out. Wemby and Scoot are both heavily in the product. Interestingly, they also have some previous year Flawless, NT and Immaculate Collegiate cards on the checklist with some big time names like Ja, Barkley, Curry, Zion. Search for those thick packs!

Anymore now if ripping wax, you are choosing between "bad value" and "incredibly bad value". At $125 a box I might get a couple just to scratch the "itch to rip" and at least be close to a complete set with a few fun inserts and parallels. But at $225? With no autos of top players, what few cards are there in the checklist that can even approach getting your money back? Hard pass.

No one is gonna buy at $225 and breakers wont want this either. This high price probably reflects what is being forced on dealers and breakers so they can get their allocation of Prizm and NT later this season. They got a gun to their head while being told they have to take the deal. It's a cartel.

when Wemby's prizm draft picks base is doing $50 on ebay, it might be time to rethink this. They won't have any problem moving this.
