If this term doesn’t apply to you and is not directed at you (any BO member), why do some people get triggered by it?

Maybe it’s hitting a bit too close to home for some on here?
I’m not triggered, and your clarification means that all this doesn’t apply to me. We are all good

The only thing you are scrutinized for is the degenerate obsession with how people choose to enjoy the hobby differently from you, and your overwhelming urge to troll and insult. Read the room.

We are not.

It’s just that the wealthy can allocate their hobby dollars to everything on the poll.

The poors need to be more selective.

Or just make more money, I’ve been told.

Haha, poll only allows for ten options. Maybe that could fit into the “new supplies” category as long as it is not a used peli case!

"Actually spend money on new supplies" qualifies

Used peli cases are for the poors

One only chooses to buy from flippers, one does not choose to be poor.

I feel you. While there more high end cards, it seems they are harder than ever to hit, plus there are way too many terrible boxes these days. I miss the days where a bad box would get at least 2/3 back. Sure those days an amazing box was only 2 or 3 times what you paid, but at least you felt like you knew what you were buying.

Sometimes, people are dealt a bad hand in life or are faced with situations beyond their preparation or control.

For the most part, I agree, there are ways to escape hobby poverty, either by action or sometimes by INaction.

Sounds like you want the contents of the box to at least sell for the price of the box to give you a net zero hobby? (While keeping a card or two for yourself.)

An amazing box still only gets you 2-3 times the price... but a terrible one gets you 5%.

Take Topps Chrome jumbo for example, $400 or so and a nice Rutschman #d auto is barely $1000. But if all your autos are junk, and your parallels are mids, then you might get 20-30 bucks for everything.

If this was a Twitter thread it would be gold

Someone post this using the hashtag #theHobby on there

Not doing it because I’ve made enough people mad over there recently

you can be real life poor, but there is no excuse for being hobby poor. It is all about mindset

Honestly, I'd pay to attend a hobby influencer seminar. I'd like to hear the secret details of their grift. How I too can become a grifter lol.

Feed the poor more nice shiny chrome...eat the rich and their stock portfolios.

If i still owned our 2'nd house with the in ground pool i'd be an millionaire...on paper. Now i reside happily in my comfy condo.
