Default Trading card means what

Why would PSA label this as a "Trading Card" instead of 1992 Upper Deck? Is it altered, or fake? Auction for this one just closed on ebay, but the PSA cert is deactivated.

That is a auto only authenticated card that was sent in for encapsulation.... The card was neither graded, nor authenticated. Only the auto was authenticated, and the "trading card" describes what was autographed, as opposed to postcard, ticket, etc..... Based on the amount of room from the top bumper to the top of the card, I'm guessing it was sent in for a dual grade, but got kicked back as "min-size", so the owner then sent it in for auto encapsulation only.

Might also have something to do with the JSA authentication as you why it went for encapsulation only, though the back looks wierd, almost like it is a whole sticker if you look at the edges....

It's just a different, cheaper service level. PSA is not saying the card is real or fake, but when they can spot it with a quick look, sometimes they do use "REPRINT CARD" as the card information.
It could have been submitted by a bulk submitter like the one on Blowout:

Oh, and PSA will still give cards with a grading sticker a number grade, if you ask for it. They don't even consider the sticker when grading the card, which is bizarre because the sticker could be covering up a scratch or surface dimple or pen mark.

That was the card you got by mailing in the insert when I was a kid. "Trading card" is kind of a weird term, but I think beckett always called them trade card 1a and 1b. But pretty sure that's where the name comes from. I think I actually still have the hole-punched one in my childhood binders, let me see.. yep.

Hmm actually all that is just a coincidence I guess, cause the one you posted is actually the non-"Trade Card" version. I think everyone else is right and they just put that on all auto only authenticated cards.

Makes me wonder if the mini-size was also why the cert is deactivated.

Thats a big assumption to make. If anything it was deactivated due to an issue with the autograph.

That's not how the autograph only encapsulation works... The validity/condition of the card has no relevance.... For what it is worth, the JSA sticker ID on the back shows as valid on JSA's website.

Hi,

I see these "Trading Card" slabs alot on eBay, with on-card auto authentication or grades on them. I had to explain to one eBay seller recently that his listing for a card is actually just an auto only grade, and not the actual card grade.

He was listing this one PSA rookie card for thousands of dollars, which made no sense, because only the auto was graded as a 10, and not the card itself. He seemed either confused or intentionally misleading, by implying that his card is graded a gem mint 10, even though only the auto was graded as such.

You have to be carefull with graded cards and eBay listings, so you don't end overpaying for something.
