Man, good luck with this, itll be a sight to behold when it's done. Is your issue finding the ones you're missing or simply finding ones that aren't astronomically priced?

Price is mostly what's stopping me from getting them all for the most part. Cheapest one to get is sprewell right now which i keep losing my 50 cents on ebay lol.

Although it seems as the Damon Stoudamire is the one to least be available for sale

And I don’t mean to beat my story into the ground, because I’ve mentioned it multiple times, but I thought you’d get a kick out of this if you weren’t already aware…
I wound up selling my McCloud, and just days after letting it go, guess who reached out to me looking to buy it.

His son.

I forget, I was more disappointed I wasn’t able to get it to him. Talk about cards “going to a good home.” I was so pissed lol, awful timing.

I should still have our dms saved, almost want to reach out and ask if he ever found another copy.

I remember that Grant Hill card from when this set released. It was such a grail of mine at the time.

Great set my friend.

Great set my friend.
Even the 97-98 Hill Autographics was on fire.

Friend pulled it and I prob tried to trade him for it 2 years straight.

His signature is almost robotic, so consistent

Great set my friend.
It was THE card at the time. I remember this card gracing the cover of most skybox products at the time, particularly NBA hoops which had a giant picture of this card on the box. Glad I finally got one.

I'll always have a soft spot for the Grant Hill

Back in 1997 I was a middle schooler and we would ride our bikes to the park. There were 2 large dumpsters and we would go in the paper one trying to find sports magazines. One day we went in there and there was a smaller box of cards. We took the box to a friends house and went in order picking which cards we wanted. Low and behold there was a Grant Hill Autographics in it! No one thought the Hill card was actually autographed and I ended up with it! I eventually traded it to the card shop.

Fast forward to my teen years and I was working part time at the LCS in my town. We had a huge area with .50 packs. I was leaving and decided to grab 2 random packs. In the basketball pack I ended up hitting a 1997-98 Autographics Grant Hill. I need to pick these 2 Grant Hills up for nostalgia purposes haha

Solid set progress. Guy I know and I bought some skybox boxes for very cheap when we were young. He pulled the G.Hill. Crazy time. Nice card.

Lol, that dumpster diving story is nuts.

But it’s also depressing that the card shops always won in that era. You could pull the best card in a product and it would still end up with them in exchange for a bunch more packs, or a full box.

I guess the gambling / chase aspect of the hobby has always been prominent but in different ways.

It was the first basketball card in my collection

And it’s definitely true that shops ended up with mostly everything traded back to them pre eBay days!

If I remember correctly my first online purchase was in 1998 on Yahoo auctions…then eBay shortly after. The good old days haha

I had a friend that was buying stuff early on eBay, I want to say 98 or 99. Can’t remember which singles, but I def regret not doing the same. I broke a couple boxes around that time but stopped altogether soon after.

I started building the 90’s Autographics sets back in 2010 and thought I got in at a good time, still missing a few only because of price and not rarity. Wish I would have started sooner as well plucking them off eBay but glad I got the ones I did because apparently they have become increasingly scarce
