Pokemon 151

Meijer by me was fully loaded. Almost bought a few booster bundles but they were $31.99 so not much of a money save over the going rate. Not that into Pokemon so it would have been a rip and flip.

Opened 4 ETBs. Hit an Venusaur SIR in one, but that was the only one of the four that was remotely good. Last one had zero illustration rares in it, only a single base ex. I bought 12 intending to stash a few, will probably let the rest sit.

As someone who hasn't paid any attention to Pokémon in 20+ years, I went and bought some booster bundle boxes. Want to see if I can rekindle the same feeling I had as a kid in the 90's finishing my binder of the first 150 haha. Back then I would throw the trainers out as I was just chasing the Pokémon lol. Still have the binder, but the Charizard is in a screwdown holder which I'm sure has killed its value. I can also remember trading a shiny Jolteon for scratched Alakazam on the school yard just because I had a non-shiny double of the Jolteon. Oh well.

I'm curious if there will be many others like me dipping back into this.

Further to this, the last 2 cards I needed were a Blastoise and a Dugtrio. I went to the card store and asked the owner if I could trade a spare Charizard I had for them. He said absolutely and said that he would throw in some extra booster packs for me to even things out. I told him nope, I now had my full set and didn't need them. That was the last time I even dealt with Pokemon cards. I thought I knew everything as a 9 year old lol.

I love this set but is it me or is it difficult to find this stuff.

I hate the gold energy card. I pulled this card 3 times every time fooling me into thinking it’s a mew or something else.

Not 151 related but this whole Pikachu Van Gogh debacle is just embarrassing to watch unfold at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. They are going to make tons of that card and it's going to be available on TPC as well and people are just going nuts.

Yeah, they have multiple items like plushes, playmats and you get one promo per item you purchase I think but the only thing I saw was these 16 x 20 wall arts for $49.99 and I wasn't paying that to get one promo card but I guess people are going nuts over them thinking they are the next Munch type promo but they are going to be making them till January so not exactly rare.

That sucks. Definitely sounds like pandemic times.

On the bright side, those promos are sub-$100 (at least, last I checked) now. No longer need to fork $300+ for one haha.

12... you hit multiples of card that see as high as 200-500:1 in 12 bundles ?

that's a really solid box. i've had some that were close to being that good, but obviously like they said above the hits were so hit or miss and spread out, but i think that's pretty much every pokemon release. i've got the zapdos and alakazam ex boxes arriving today, then i'm done opening for the sake of opening. master set is almost complete. 12 AR/SIRs and 7 reverse holos left.. if anybody needs reverse holos to complete a set, let me know maybe you can help me knock out some of my remaining needs too.
