In other news, I saw someone say that it was the 1980 Bears that invented the Super Bowl Shuffle. Now I have to make an account on that platform to tell them how wrong they are.

What I never undestood, is why Steve Fuller sang:

"So bring on Atlanta, bring on Dallas. This is for Mike and Papa Bear Halas"

Why Atlanta? They were 4-12 in 1984 and 4-12 in 1985. When the Bears recorded the Shuffle, they were 1-9. Its not like Atlanta was needed to rhyme or anything. Why "bring on" one of the worse teams in the league?

Dallas makes sense. The Cowboys were a foe to the Bears in the early 80s. And won the NFC East in 85. Plus Dalas/Halas. But Atlanta?

I would assume it for alliteration for all the ending words to have a short "a" sound to them.

Saw on another platform a post with side-by-side stats for Raiders "all time bust" JaMarcus Russell and "promising future" Justin Fields that was mildly interesting.

This is interesting. Some of the passing numbers are uncomfortably close. The big difference is the running.

Justin v. JaMarcus

As long as Fields doesn't start downing Purple Drank™ I think he'll be fine.

Just watched the Lions lose to the Jags.

Is this what it feels like to be a Bears fan?

Come on now.

Lions fans are used to this futility.

Don't make fun of Detroit. Those poor fans deserve a break.

I think you kind of whiffed on this one, chief.

Skol!

You won't know what that feels like until you have multiple hype threads about your rookie QB making the first page of BO

NGL, though you said Lions fans are used to Full Tritty. Both show up to work at about the same rate

James Jones: “It’s disrespectful to Justin Fields to compare him to Jalen Hurts. Fields’ arm talent is better.. He’s faster, more explosive, his run talent is better than Hurts. Justin Fields at the QB position is more of a talent than Hurts, I don’t care what y’all talking about.”

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that this ages like milk.

Can be gifted with all the physical talent in the world but if you don't have the heart or the brains to put that talent to use it won't matter. So far in 2 years Fields has not had it between the ears to put that talent to use.

So report Bears might go with UDFA D2 Tyson Bagent as backup QB. Bagent who was 4 year starter at Shepherd Univ won the D2 comparsion of the Heisman Trophy last year. Guess Walker and Peterman have sucked badly so far in camp.

Bagent has looked very well. He would get claimed if they let him go. They may have to keep three qb’s.

The entire division will win between 8-10 games IMO.

Man talk about being saltier than Poseidon's salty starfish.

The level of effort put into a rival team's backup QB battle is breathtaking.
