Have to agree with anusinha -- can't we combine or skip some products?

The pandemic is actually a legitimate excuse for not releasing each product sequentially.

I also thought that was weird. I also love that it’s the shop that cried to UD 7 years ago that some US based breakers were selling too cheaply and hurting C&C’s business. Bunch of chumps.

Interesting -- any more on this?

C&C give off a sleaze vibe.

I remember when C&C first opened back in 2011 they sold RBK jerseys. I bought Ovechkin and Malkin jerseys from them and they turned out to be Chinese replicas. I complained about the quality but they never ended up doing anything about it or accepting a return... basically claimed they were real despite being visibly fake AF.

There was a really popular breaker back then based out of AZ. Had a full room in his channel every night and really good camaraderie. His prices were super affordable which was pricing out C&C so they complained to UD enough to have his distributor license suspended. He was forced to buy overpriced crap from then on and was basically squeezed out of the bulk of his market because it was sUpEr iMpOrTaNt to keep Canadian breakers happy.

Escándalo!!! That's a wild story. Sharp elbows in the breaking space.

My bad I just posted the first public link I saw of the checklist. Didn't mean anything by it.

I had always found hockey breakers to be a bit different than many of the other guys. I think I did one break w/ Clouts but didn't like the aspect of their breaks (the whole from the side thing was not my cup of team). But the other few hockey breakers seem to all be true hockey fans and largely friends w/ each other. But many that's a skewed sample.

The non-hockey (and soccer) people who know nothing of the sport and can't pronounce any names are the ones that most annoy me - unless they are at a very low price I avoid entirely

Agreed. Whatnot is a cesspool of exactly that.

Not only has the checklist been released, apparently some of Brett Hull’s best cards from the product have already hit the secondary market before the product has even hit shelves:

fwiw, assuming 1 Patch Auto per inner like last year, I get a total of 4450 cases (including Glove, Pad, Patch, Skate autos - among Vet, Rookie and XRC's)

To give a sense of what this means in terms of hitting players, Zegras looks to be about 1 in 127 inners for an RPA and 1 in 21 inners for an auto. Dawson Mercer is a bit better (1 in 89 / 15). Alex Barre-Boulet is 1 in 127 inners for an RPA and 1 in 12 for an auto.

No idea if this is better or worse than year's past, but wanted to share if useful

From what I can see so far, those without autos in this product:
Cole Caufield
Quinton Byfield
Spencer Knight
Seth Jarvis
Cole Sillinger

Anyone else missing?

Having been out of the hobby for decades, and coming back as an observer and just sports fan, I have to say that the change from set and (realistic) subset building to chasing limited # cards and speculation bets on rookies, is the most notable difference to my eye.

But, given that these production delays have evolved into product releases that already have "the future known" in many aspects, and given the enormous cost of each new release, it leaves me asking: "Why in the world would anyone plop good money into any of this stuff, at or near release prices?" (or pehaps at all).

Is the itch to get lucky with Ovi's or McDavid's 897th # card design in this release really so great to lay big money out for the chance at it? Is the next # card design coming, the 1031st, so auspicious to warrant the prior 1030 cards so inferior to chase?

I'm being facetious of course, but I'm amazed at the thrills expressed when someone gets a no-name, never-really-gonna-make it card, numbered of 25, that they pull, as the best card, after shelling out perhaps $1k-plus to open some just-another-product, in the loooooooong line of products.

I'm not trying to offend. To each their own. I'm just left bemused at the state of the hobby in this aspect.

I feel like prospecting has always been a thing within the hobby but within the past 3 years there's been a very big change between "base rookie" chasing in 2020-2021 into "low #'d rookie" chasing from 2022-present across all sports.

The Young Guns card does seem to be immune from this phenomenon... but if UD run the printer next year with the introduction of more serial #'d young guns, we might see that take a turn.

People have been chasing the rookies for decades, limited #cards have been around for decades, people still set build today. Stature is a $130 a box, not $1,000. Yes pulling Ovie’s 897th card design is exciting especially if it’s that persons FIRST Ovie auto or their PC player (could be that no-name to you) out of /25.

People buy boxes, who cares if you don’t. People buy cases, who cares if you don’t. Enjoy the hobby how you want and who cares how others do it?

Like people constantly push “buy singles don’t rip boxes” how are you going to get the singles to becomes singles? Someone has to open boxes, someone has to buy the case, and someone has to sell the single first. Just enjoy the hobby how you want and why cares on how others do it?

Because people derive joy from the hobby in their own way. The biggest problem facing the hobby is the growing number of comments from people who disagree with how things are done because it isn't their way. Let people collect and do the same in your own way.
