Default The Perennial Neymar Thread

Wanted to create a thread for my favorite player of the 2010s. Hope he leaves PSG this window. Here are a few cards of mine to kick off the thread.

If anyone ever sees the 2022 World Cup Sticker Black 1/1 please let me know, it is my modern grail.

Looks like he is leaving PSG for sure. Really hope he avoids the SA/MLS route considering he is still young. A return to Barca would be awesome.

News today is that it looks like he will most likely head back to Barcelona....

Would love to see him back where he burst onto the scene.

How many players will Barcelona have to sell / not pay to seal that deal? PSG also have to agree to tear up Neymars contract too. He's got two years left on it.

Why would PSG let Neymar leave for free?

Barca had to sell a 29.5% stake in Barca Vision just to be able to register the players they already have. I don't see how they can afford Neymar but they always were good at some of that funny accounting.

Barcelona coach Xavi is worried Neymar could upset the dressing room harmony at the Nou Camp. (Marca - in Spanish)

“Neymar rejected an offer worth €80 million from Al Hilal, and prefers the €15 million from Barcelona.

The Saudis have now increased their offer to 100 million, hoping to impress Neymar.

The loss today is a big motivator in their improved offer.“

This transfer would kill me

Latest from Romano :

Neymar Jr and Al Hilal deal, advancing to the final stages. Not done yet but close between all parties

I'd imagine Neymar pining for Barcelona was nothing but a smokescreen for him. Barcelona can't afford him, Xavi doesn't really want him. Gives Neymar the illusion he still cares about football.

Neymar was a special talent. God knows what he could have achieved with a better work ethic and mindset.

Those are beautiful cards!

Definitely could have achieved more but still did have an incredible career. Will be Brazil's all time scorer.

A few more from the PC attached here.... I truly think Stadium club Neymar cards have been elite photos every year. The Maradona tribute shirt and the headphones with the big PSG logo in the back is also sick.

Unfortunately, you can say that about quite a few players....

Some top journalists are saying there may be a plan for Saudi to get him, and then immediately loan him to Barcelona. Better than going to SA now...

Paris St-Germain's Brazil forward Neymar, 31, has agreed a two-season contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal which will earn him 160m euros (£138m) - provided a transfer fee can be agreed. (L'Equipe - in French)

No way there's a loan deal in that for a £140m two year deal.

“🚨Globo:

Neymar will become a player of Al-Hilal.

He will make €320 million over 2 seasons. PSG will earn around €100 million for the transfer. The most expensive signing by a club outside of Europe ever.

The club, which is the most popular in Saudi Arabia, promises a big event on Wednesday for his presentation.”

I want to vomit

C'mon, he was never going to Barcelona. It was all smoke and mirrors. Like I said, Barcelona can't afford him, Xavi didn't want him.

Neymar checked out of soccer years ago.

He played roughly 50% of his league games a season 'cos he couldn't be bothered - most he ever played in SIX SEASONS was 22... out of a 38 game season!

He always, always has injuries in March so he can spend time with his sister back in Brazil, it's amazing PSG didn't sue him

Can't believe it happened. Biggest wasted talent I can think of. The move to PSG destroyed his career.

I think what we are seeing is some of these 30+ year old guys are just making so much money it isn't worth it to a team to pay them. PSG was getting what maybe 30 games out of Neymar a year and he was making around $70 Million I think.

What team in Europe would pay a transfer fee and $70 million a year for the guy?

Sad to see it as I was afraid stuff like this would start happening but I really figured it would be guys in their late 30s like Ronaldo was.

You get to a certain point in salary and there are only a handful of teams that can afford you. PSG made a good decision moving him.
