It's not uncommon for companies to end up with a short staff the week of a major trade show. Happens in my industry all the time and things move slower those weeks. Manufacturers will pull people from different departments to go and work. There are travel days, setup days, tear down days, etc etc.

Had a 12 card and 42 card sub pop last week and the 42 card that popped after the 12 has shipped already w/ tracking while the 12 card says shipped but no tracking yet. So who knows.

I pulled the trigger on the 90’s special in late June and sent in 600 cards split up across 6 orders, all sent in together in the same box. Each group was as evenly split so I could see if the speed and results were consistent with each other.

While 4 orders are in “Grading” status and 1 still in “Research & ID” status, I did have 1 order pop last night. The only thing that was unique about this group compared to the others is it included a group of 14 Invicta inserts which are thicker stock. Not sure if that has anything to do with the earlier pop but I’ll take it.

Overall it was about average as I hit 45% Gem or 99% Mint or Gem;

85 cards submitted
10 - 38
9 - 36
8 - 5
6 - 2

Where I struggled was a group of 16 refractors from the 90’s that I thought was strong and ended up with 12 mint 9’s, 3 NM-MT 8’s, and a 6. Curious how the other 5 orders go as all contained a similar mix of 90’s refractors.

The group of thicker Invicta inserts I didn’t know what to expect as I rarely send in thicker cards as they can be tough grades but of the 14 cards I received 6 Gems and 8 Mint 9’s so I guess I’ll take it.

We’ll see how long it takes the other 5 orders to pop but I’ll update the post as they do.

The '80s one lasted a month. I know because the '90s Special was still going at the end of June when I submitted my order. I don't know if that one lasted for 2 months or not.

Yup and they made it $14.99 for some reason.

I have a bunch of cards in my COMC vault that I would like to use this special for, but I only have 15 days left on my PSA membership. I guess I could rush my COMC cards back to me to review and I still should be able to get them back in time to review them.

1960s eh? I guess they are smart, in that they are running specials for card volumes they'll receive next to nothing on (in comparison to 80s, 90s, modern, and TCG). Basically they just gave themselves a months break from specials submissions.

I collect vintage and the number of raw cards I have that are gradable from the 60's are very few. I only submit cards typically that are collector grades and up. If it doesn't have a chance at a 6, I will keep in a top loader unless it is a Mantle or early Mays/Clements/Aaron/etc... Now if they had a 70's special, I have close to 100 cards I would be sending them.

My 45-Card sub (90's Special) went from delivered to PSA and grades in 31 calendar days. The Value Plus 3-card sub I sent in the same box is still in QA2. I'm still shocked how little time it took to grade the bulk sub.

The two 6's I thought were a 7 & 8 and the 7 I thought was a 9 or 10. On the flip side one of my 9's (LeBron Topps RC I thought was a 7. The 8.5 I thought was a 9 but maybe the sticker auto brought it down .5 because it was applied on an angle.

I will be curious to see what I missed on the Sports Special. My 90's cards got mostly 10's but my modern 2023 cards all got 9's which is peculiar to me. Maybe I am just out of touch what is a 10 for chrome cards or PSA is just extra harsh on modern.

I'm willing to bet you get lapped. Vintage is taking longer than advertised. Either way, seems you got your answer. You cards were broken into three different orders so they will all come back at different times.

My value order of 36 cards has been in grading for over 3 weeks. Seems excessive but oh well. Anyone else's Value order been stuck in grading?
