I don't understand Dusty Baker at all for hitting Yordan 5th behind Bregman and in front of Abreu.

I still think the Astros near perfect lineup would be:

Altuve
Tucker
Alvarez
Bregman
Abreu
McCormick
Diaz
Pena
Dubon/Julks

Yah. It's dubious to hit him 5th even knowing they don't want to move Tucker.

If it’s about separating the lefties a little, at least bat Tucker second and Yordan fourth.

Or maybe is Dusty is factoring in Yordan’s extended absence, and giving him some time get into a groove before moving back up the lineup…?

Which is complete nonsense, old school approach that doesn't make sense since both Tucker and Alvarez hit lefties decently.

And even then, you are sacrificing optimal lineup for the off chance they face a lefty in the 8th inning.

Ideal lineup;

1. Altuve
2. Yordan
3. Bregman
4. Tucker
5. Abreu

I assumed it's just conservative Dusty. Your second point I think.
