Default Fake Frank Thomas Patch Auto on eBay right now

Being auctioned by DCSports87. Just giving everyone a heads up. I collect this set across all three sports and can assure you none of these have patches, not even the parallel that’s #’d to the player’s jersey number. Upper Deck stripped the patches off all the jerseys so the cards wouldn’t be super thick.

Is the jersey window not bulging on the bottom and dinged up at the top (under White Sox)?

How is that a 10?

Oh, PSA.

Yeah, how did that get a 10? When was this graded? That patch is obvious a fake.

I have the Champ auto jersey from this, these are super thin auto jerseys, no way would they put patches in this.

Good looking out, definite fake patch. I reported it, not sure if that does anything though...

Check in with user: Brandt504
Ebay: bighurt_90s_inserts

https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=356335

Sales history points to that ebay acct, Dec. 2017
https://www.psacard.com/cert/25427325/psa

From what I can tell, he doesn't grade or really seem to collect graded either, so my assumption would be a buy/flip type scenario.

My opinion based on what I could sleuth is that the work was done by someone else.

Good catch.

I’ve followed that set since its release. Single-color jerseys only, or occasionally a pinstripe. That patch is an obvious fake.

If I bid this up so it has to go through authentication, who wants to bet that it makes it? And - what happens if if doesn’t?

Well it would be going through PSA again for authentication so I bet it would pass.... If the seller doesn't accept returns I believe you would be stuck with it.

Someone with an active Twitter account and some followers should tweet PSA and Nat Turner. May get enough attention to get it taken down.

Added to the Altered Card Database

2000 Frank Thomas #FTh UD Pros & Prospects - Signature Jersey PSA 10 cert# 25427325

These are not the same card. It is to show what the Fake Patch should look like.

The ‘patch’ on the left is from the 1997 Jackie Robinson patch that was on jersey’s that year. The one on the right isn’t a ‘patch.’ It’s a piece of a jersey.

It doesn’t matter. None of the jersey swatches or pieces were patches not even the super rare parallel that was #’d to the player’s jersey number. Upper Deck literally pulled all the patches off of the jerseys they used to make them more or less the same size as the base cards. This was stated in Beckett around the time the product was released and my Cal Ripken Jr. shows evidence of this.

It appears the auction was finally pulled. A real shame when people ruin great cards.

And another one…also from our friends at DCSports87. This one a Kobe Bryant. The lettering on the slab also looks dodgy as hell:

No way that Kobe slab is real. Not even talking about the card, just the slab. Nice find.

Those early PSA labels were basically hand-typed.

It looks like a Type 4 flip but the PSA logo up to seems off to me.
