A 2013 BBM #183 PSA10 Probstein123 went for $2451 last night. The previous Probstein went for $1608 on Jun 6. Not saying that is FMV or that the auction wasn't juiced. I'm saying that is very interesting.

Was just thinking something similar...with Trout out at least the next 2 months it is less likely the Angels will be able to contend. You would think that would increase the chance of Ohtani being traded, but something tells me it still won't happen.

I remember in 2021 where the only reason anyone went to an Angel game was to watch sho. If we've seen one thing true about Arte, it's the focus on short term profits.

It sounds really sad, but as someone that lives <20min from the stadium, if sho stayed as an Angel long term, it would affect my decision to stay put here . So to answer your question, meltdown both ways.

Well I had an interesting interaction attempting to sell Ohtani just now. Offered someone four slabs at 90% comps (as a starting point for negotiations) and was told that I was asking 5x recent comps and that I need to learn how to comp cards.

Keep in mind I comped all four of them using only terapeak results on ebay.

Oh well, guess I'll sell them to someone else.

Completely disregarding performance, the type of characters entering Ohtani "investing" indicate a bubble. I hope I'm wrong.

That would be such a public relations nightmare for the Angels...that they didn't even present an appearance of an attempt to resign him...no chance they will trade him in season.

Rest easy dear friend, he assures me that he has over 600 Ohtani rookies, has been collecting him since 2018 and knows more about his market than that of any other player.

Also he somehow bought a Bowman rookie auto today for just $2,400. To be honest, if he's getting deals like that I can see why he'd pass on what I offered.

There's some truth to this, but I think you forget how bad the 2021 roster was when Sho's bat slumped in 2H. Even without trout, this squad is an all-star team in contrast. The mentality now is to fortify before the deadline and sneak into a wild card slot, at which point you hope trout is healthy. I would say Sho's motivation all depends on what Arte allows Minassian to do now.

He responded so quickly there's no chance he ever even comped the lot I sent him pictures of.

When I responded to his "you're at 5x comps" barb by explaining exactly how I comped the lot, he then told me that using terapeak for comps is unreliable because two people could just fake sale cards on ebay and pay for them to get "confirmed" comps.

Based on that statement alone, I'm not sure what sort of comp I could ever provide this person that he'd accept.

Funny thing is that I've sold this guy multiple cards in the past for cash at full ebay comps and he hasn't once complained.

He paid $1000. No negotiation.

The $5500 was just a number I tossed out. I was asking for advice. The buyer is pursuing me. I probably should have mentioned the purchase of the other cards and the lack of negotiation.

Most importantly, my Mother, bless her, says that I am crazy and that I should be asking $50K for all of these Ohtani cards. She's a little Cooku, but you gotta love your Moms.

Funniest part of all this? After some more lectures about how ebay comps are all fake he then asked me to take better pictures without the sleeves on the slabs.

I told him no because if he thinks I'm at "5x comps" its not worth my time to do so.
