Go for it!

Appreciate the reply. Think I will go for it. Off to the grading section to figure out how to do it

Hitters always get more hobby love than pitchers, so does the group feeli this RD will continue to have legs in the future?

Sorry if already discussed. Thanks!

Just wondering, what are considered the flagship rookie cards?

In my opinion? The only flagship rookie is the Series 2 #700.

Others might be inclined to include the Topps Update and maybe the Topps Chrome + Topps Chrome Update.

His true rookie is the 2013 BBM First Version #183.

Thanks all for the replies. I’m not sure how to put multiple quotes in one response.

To me, flagships is the Topps, Topps chrome, and Topps chrome update. I guess, typically the first set to have his rookie is the “true” rookie. However, for me the series two and chrome image is terrible. I much prefer the update/chrome update pitching image. However, the update/chrome update RD card is the only of all of the products with him hitting (well I guess there is the 3 homer streak, but again I prefer the RD image). Hitting images just seem to be more desirable overall as do hitters overall.

His true rookie is his first year in the majors thus 2018 a plethora to choose from.

Whether you like it or not, S2 image is his legitimate first Topps card. It will have more security than any other card simply because of that fact. If you want to buy other stuff, you should do so, but you can't credibly substantiate excuses that the #700 isn't the most relevant card.

Also, I don't think people that claim Ohtani's main rookie card is his BBM are wrong, but that's his J-league rookie card. Like Ichiro, the Japan cards are seen as an extension of his collecting but nobody is trying to pedal those Ichiro Orix cards as the only legitimate option. Both of them became a world sensation from what was done in MLB, not J-league. People will try to pump anything.

If you read the first sentence of what I wrote, I said I didn't think people claiming the BBM as his rookie card are wrong.

What I'm saying is ridiculous is people claiming that this is his only legitimate rookie and it should be collected over Topps because it came first. Ichiro is a prime example of how that doesn't hold true. If you felt the need to get defensive over that with a dictionary definition, I don't know what to tell you.

Guys nobody cares what he did before the majors thus his TRUE rookie cards are 2018. If he never made it to the majors and did what he has done nobody would care thus 2018 is THE year to collect his TRUE rookie cards.

If that is the case, you may want to check the prices of Brock Lesnar Vikings cards, Dwayne Johnson Miami Hurricanes, Kurt Warner Iowa Barnstormers, etc. Just because a card isn’t mainstream doesn’t devalue the collectability. If you had any of those fore mentioned cards, would you treat them as non-caring and toss them into a common box? I doubt it.

Sometimes, when honesty collides with reality, it can be weird.

I have the #700 in PSA 10, but in all actuality, any RC Ohtani cards are great pickups, from low to high end. There is an entry point for everyone, but his raw stuff is definitely going up.

For topps, bowman and finest. Kanji autos in those products were extremely limited. Have only seen 3 total (1 bowman and 2 finest).

For UD, yes Goodwin but thought they were live but not 100% sure.

Anyone else see the BGS 10 Camo #700 that sold on Ebay this week?

If so does anyone else think that a 10 grade with those corners is a bit absurd?

The corners on that card look about as bad as my PSA 9.

That’s BGS for you. Pristine with a white corner. The market treats those cards accordingly though. Just like a poorly centered PSA 10.
