It’s from a Topps Industry Conference. Not even sure if it’s a part of any set.

Corbin Blue just went for $1200 and this one looks rough. I guess people are paying attention now and just getting what they can.

Generally the consensus is "Sell at call up". Seeing how I got that auto and another refractor auto in a $75 break, it seemed like an easy decision to take the money and run. Looking at my other 1st bowman chrome auto's where I did the same, I wasn't too worried as I always believed he was legit but didn't think his cards would keep going up after his 1st topps RC's dropped. Frankly, I don't like holding cards over $500, as I'd rather cash out, than hold and get stuck holding the bag.

Listing says it’s in nrmt-mt condition, if it’s rough it may not pass the authenticity guaranty.

Crazy what the little guy has done the last month to launch himself into the discussion.
No recency bias. He's leading the league in OPS+ for the entire season with all the speed and defense. 15:1 is still a very good number.

Once he makes the ASG, he's going to be the talk of The National, is he not?

The other thing you have to account for is all of the players that don't meet or exceed their expectation after callup. Or the worst case...they meet them and their price still plummets. I know "Carroll is different", but keep in mind before the fact there are 10 Carroll's every year on Blowout. Only rarely are they dominantly leading the ROY race at this point, let alone leading the league in OPS/OPS+/WAR.

Absolutely. You're right, It's not a common occurrence. I made the right call, it's just hard to see that money left on the table.

Selling at call up will, in retrospect, be the right thing to do 99% of the time. We can all tell stories of the money we lost by selling Brady, LeBron, Curry, and Trout way too early, but the reality is that those decisions (1) netted a profit and (2) account for <1% of the reality that most players won’t sustain or exceed those prices moving forward.

Thanks! A lot of the autos on these cards are streaky due to the glossy paper used, so I was happy to get this one. It’s well centered too, which is always nice.

The way you guys talk I would did not expect Carrol's BCA to up as much as it is. He's up over 2x since November and 1.8x since Opening Day. The only guy even close to him in gain is Elly De La Cruz. In terms of price, he's right on the heels of Wander Franco.

He's basically pacing with Trout's 2012 RC season at this point. There are quite a few of his items that are starting to reflect this. Still, lots more room on a lot of his stuff.
