Picked up this Stengel recently.....love these old strip cards.

These were THE cards of the 1920s. The 20s were sort of the dead ball era for major card sets, in between the 206s and the 33 Goudey, dominated by oddball cards.

Love Double Plays.....a very underrated set. It includes Reese, Slaughter, Boudreau, and Rizzuto rookies.

Love the WaJo and the Double Plays!

Here's what arrived for me today. It's been a little while since a mail day, so I'm even more happy than usual to get this...

didn't know PeeWee Reese came out. might have to go back and pick it up...

sweet cards though. i'm also eyeing the other Double Play card of Ted Williams, but i couldn't pass on two HOFers on one card first.

also, you forgot about Hank Greenberg too! and of course...Joltin Joe DiMaggio

Love the Goudey cards, everyone!

I also like the 1953 Topps Eddie Mathews. I've been looking for one of those myself.

There is an SGC 5 (a very solid grade for this set) of the Reese on Ebay for $495 OBO. It's a bargain compared to his 1941 Playball. The Double Play is also a lot more scarce compared to the Playball. This set, historically, has lived in the shadow of the Playball but has been getting more attention recently (and consequently picking up in price) given the caliber of players in the set and some of the key rookies. My friend has almost the entire set. He slowly picked it up over the years (more than a decade ago) and spent, on average, about $20 per card, which is pretty crazy to think about.

Ok I have been picking up a bit of vintage basketball. So last week I was able to pick up this Julius Irving rookie.
So Friday night had a call that a person had really nice started sets of the 1971-72, 1972-73, 1973-74 Topps
sets.So figured why not. Sets were about 90% compete. So I have scanned a few of the cards. There was also a
handful of the 1977 Fleer glossy team logos. No idea why I have been buying this basketball stuff since my main
focus is vintage non sport. But for the lats few months I have accumulated a fair bit of this stuff/I guess it is
because it is vintage. Cannot think of any other reason. Here is a link to the other stuff I have picked up in
about the last 6 months or so.I have it in the vintage buy/sell/trade section. I am looking for a few vintage
non sport cards for some sets I am working on.Thanks.

Where have you gone...Joe DiMaggio, our nation turns its lonely eyes to you...

DiMaggio and Charlie "King Kong" Keller. btw, if anybody ever has time, please read "The Hero's Life" by Richard Cramer, it's a really good book on DiMaggio. i read it during the lockdown of COVID and i fell in love with the Yankee Clipper. good stuff.

also, these Double Play cards are really too sweeeeeet
