Yeah, I looked at the sell sheet today and couldn’t believe it. The price increased by $15 per box from 2021 Update to 2022 Series 1, and by $50 per box from Series 1 to Series 2. A $65 increase overall in a matter of months! Surprisingly, regular hobby boxes only went up a few bucks. I can only assume they are going to overload jumbos again with lots of hits compared to all other SKUs.

There's no need to make assumptions, they posted the odds over a week ago. And no, it turns out they basically undid that change. https://www.topps.com/odds

I’d side with Khal on this one. In addition, there have got to be numerous ways to earn higher hourly rates even just specifically within the card market than ripping and listing flagship. Nothing wrong with having fun and doing it, just don’t throw out ridiculous 99 percent numbers.

Thanks. Just catching up on that checklist. Juicing the price and nerfing the product doesn’t seem very logical.

Just watched a break of a hobby box, not a single gold card. There were a better amount of color and rainbow foils than S1, but definitely did not fire me up to pile in on this one even if its an outlier.

1:18 pack odds, so it's not going to be all that unusual to see a box without a gold. 1:18 means there's a 94.44444% chance NOT to hit gold in a given pack, so, treating each pack as an independent event, not hitting one 24 packs in a row would be... just a hair over 25% chance.

Agreed. The watered down hits (low frequency of golds/numbered) aren't a good combination with the increased prices.

I remember you use to make money opening Topps now the only ones making money are the BIG 3 and others selling the product. These prices are insane.

yea, golds have not been 1 a box for some time

Yeah outside of the gimmick Golden Mirror SSP's there is really nothing to chase that warrants throwing down $1000 + for a case of this stuff. For that same $1000-$1200 you can get a nice #'d color of any of the big names (Volpe, Alvarez, Carrol) without all the crap base you can't hardly give away or join several team/player breaks online.

As others have stated anything sealed just isn't worth the money anymore unless you are buying to break online or keep it sealed long term.

Since it varies from series to series within a year due to overall print run, let's just look at Series 2:

2023: 1:18 packs
2022: 1:17 packs
2021: 1:14 packs
2020: 1:9 packs
2019: 1:6 packs
2018: 1:10 packs
2017: 1:8 packs

Interesting. They're the images straight from the Topps Series 2 previews - so, yes, mockups, but also straight from the horse's mouth. (see, e.g., the item listing itself from when they took pre-orders... https://www.topps.com/2023-topps-bas...pre-order.html)
