That is what I am thinking. Only 8 autos all main cast types, so that is good. No second speeder trooper autos or third emperor guard types. Bad news, I can't imagine this falling at any decent rate. Like to see the odds.

Even if they're 1:50 boxes, that seems decent until we learn what the price per box will be.

They're going to sucker in a LOT of people with this checklist. Interesting how they didn't release the checklist for Chrome in advance?

Are they just going to do ESB next year?

Hope it's priced reasonably.

Very poor planning.

They still have three series of ANH left to do, let's not forget.

Since Bowman Sapphire was a ‘Dutch Auction’ I assume they’ll do the same with SW Sapphire, and Topps will say MC members had the chance to buy because it takes 90 minutes for pricing to get to reasonable levels, reasonable being a relative term. I’m expecting start @ $850 with a floor @ $350 like Bowman Sapphire was last week. At the very best MC will get a chance at 1 box at floor pricing, I wouldn’t expect anything more than that.

They did release the Chrome checklist first. Its the reason some people jumped in on the pre-order, the relative amount of decent names. Not withstanding for every 1 good auto there are 10/15 weak ones still.

But the checklist was up, odds were not.

I’m not on IG so did it say if this was going to be series 1 and 2? If it’s both then there are 50% more cards in the set compared to last year. If new parallels are added (because, why not???) then this is going to have a significant print run increase over last year.

Also, will every box have a graded 1983 card? If not then these will be easily searched with the added weight of a slab in some boxes.

No they didn't. They dropped the boxes on May the 4th and nobody knew what they were buying til the checklist was posted halfway into the day.

Considering they did 132 cards last year, and each ROTJ series is 132 cards, I am assuming they just give us series 1 this year. No need to rush through the entire vintage population, they want to stretch this out over years.

Series 2 was only 88 cards in 1983

I did not realize that. Still, 200+ sapphire cards would be quite the set! IMHO it would be wiser to stretch it out into more releases.

Does anyone know if the Luke onyx was confirmed pulled? Rumors and speculation earlier in this thread but no pictures have ever surfaced to my knowledge.

582 preorder is typically the day after the email. So Thursday would be the general public sale for the anniversary then

To answer my own question lol, It appears to be both series. Topps released a photo showing card #8 from series 1 and the Darth Vader sticker from series 2. With both sets and stickers included, this is going to be a large set. Production is likely going to be very high compared to last year so good for us!

I have to admit I am very surprised - and a little disappointed because now it is going to cost more to make a complete set...

Hrrm... I'm still on the fence about doing a set this year. I'm still 6 cards short of last year's and got a little burnt out on them. Maybe I'll just do a "sticker set" or some other smaller version.

Currently available for $500 on eBay.... I hate buying right away because that is usually when prices are highest and then they come down.... but man, that ain't what happened last year (at first)....

I doubt they do dutch auction on Star Wars. There was a whole lot of weirdness that went on with Bowman. I think that presale they ran on the regular release helped them determine how much product to make and they got stuck with a lot more than they thought they would. I think they did dutch on Bowman Sapphire to help offset the other mistakes.

If history holds up, these will be available to the public tomorrow. Though it may be a battle to get them.

I doubt I'll have much success with the public offering, but let's hope it drives the prices on eBay down.... demand may be slightly higher since it is a larger set and people will need more boxes to complete it, although this is a less popular movie so maybe it will have fewer collectors..... IMHO supply has got to be way higher since I believe the overall print runs will remain close (or the same) but that is just a wild guess....

It is just after noon in the east and current lowest eBay price is $450.... I don't see any sales right now.... UPDATE/EDIT: $400 box on eBay now available....

It's a good price at $200 but the set isn't as sought after/remembered fondly as the 1977 one and it's not the "1st Sapphire" for most of the big characters. I'm betting most who want one will get one tomorrow. I'm curious to see if these will be under or over $200 in six months.
