I’m hoping so also. The purchase was only 3 weeks ago the card is still at the same value or higher. Their guarantee on the PSA website implies I should be covered.

This sucks in general for sho flagship collectors though. Now I need to skeptically look at any expensive card with a 7 in front of the serial #.

Probably a little under actually. The indie premium for 2018 has surpassed black. Topps killed the design (made it awful bland) for that parallel after 2019, making the 2018 more desirable.

Wonder how hard it will be to find the trimmer from the ebay consignment seller? Bought trimmed sold within a month PSA should also have the customers info too. Yes 2018 design so much nicer!

the PSA 10 was sold as a 1-day auction so certainly the bad actor wanted it posted, sold and offline asap….

Betting that it was submitted through a group submitter so PSA will have to shake them down for a name. A couple checks around the serial # should give you a better idea what kind of sub it was. I hate to say it but there may be other Ohtanis trimmed.

That trimmed Ohtani is a really, really bad look for PSA. There's no excuse for PSA not having a database of images of previously sold cards to compare to new cards they grade -- especially cards recently sold. It's also automatic that a BGS 8.5 corner grade disqualifies a card from a PSA 10 grade.

This instance is anecdotal, but it really illustrates how PSA grading is a scam -- either this was willful negligence or deliberately done.

Very True, a lot of things look really bad for them. Big /76 Ohtani card makes me think it may be the latter.

There's a grading thread if you want to discuss PSA outside Ohtani. The most practical explanation is that PSA did not do their diligence rather than anything nefarious. Clearly, better precaution needs to be taken for iconic athlete RCs like Ohtani.

Wouldn’t this be mail fraud? Making this a federal case? Should be open and shut case as there is quite a bit of language by PSA around cards being submitted haven’t been altered so it should be an easy fraud case as a federal felony.
