Default Is this years AL East the best division EVER?

When the last place team is above 500 that's something. Thoughts?

it's been the toughest division for a long time now. with the more balanced schedule, the rest of the league will feel the wrath.

Perhaps a bit premature, as a lot can happen in the next month or so...

Next poll...are the 2023 Rays the best team ever? Haha but what a division this year for real. Haven't seen the Orioles yet, but Blue Jays are no joke and Red Sox just swept them etc. etc.

I still have no faith in the Red Sox holding up for the entire year, and I’m a Sox fan.

It's been the toughest division for a few years now with most of the teams above .500.

Combined 45 games over 500 early is tough to argue. Might get 4 teams in playoffs, but the 5th team here and angels and maybe rangers in the mix as well

Ask me when the playoffs are over.

If the AL Championship Series is between two East teams, then maybe.

True, 4 teams won over 90 games year before last, that’s tough to do.

This. Unless there's 2 teams in the AL Championship and 4 teams with 90+ wins this season...Im not interested in even discussing it.

it's May but unofficially the 1/4 point of the season...

Boston sits a half game behind New York for the third wildcard spot. ahead of them? Toronto and Baltimore.

if someone told me that a LAST place team in a division would be right on the arse of the third and final wildcard team, i wouldn't believe it.

There are more World Series contenders in the AL East than the National league, it's kind of crazy.

While they may all end up being very strong, it's worth noting that three of them have had a turn with the A's already. That accounts for a combined 9-1 record.

Rays: 3-0
Orioles: 3-1
Yankees: 3-0

Six weeks into the season it's impossible to say. There have been a handful of times where a whole division finished at .500 or better, so if at least that doesn't happen I'd say no.

When?
I can't ever remember this happening with 5 teams in a division.

I was able to find two - 2005 NL East and 1991 AL West. Both of them had a last place team that went 81-81.

That said, we are 6+ weeks into the season, so way too early to be making any 'best division ever' statements.

I’m more leaning towards the rest of the AL being really bad. So there’s a difference.
