Another beauty in the mail today

Hot starts from Acuna, Vladdy, and Wander are to thank for funding this one

First post on the forum, but longtime lurker! This Bazooka Mantle was hidden in between two cards in a page of 1960s commons I recently picked up. A pleasant surprise indeed. I have owned a lot of vintage Mantles, including a few Posts, over the years, but this is my first Bazooka. I am not big into grading, but my gut tells me to grade this. Should I use PSA or SGC in this situation? I am not familiar with how PSA or SGC grades hand cut cards either so curious to hear opinions on whether this would receive a numerical grade or an A. There are indentations along the left side, right side and top right and, although hard to see, the lower left corner is missing. Otherwise, I think it presents well and was also cut well; most of the black borders show.

Your picture is really small, but I would say use SGC. PSA will give it an A because you can't see the black all the way around. SGC should give it a number grade, or at least you have a better chance.

Thanks for the feedback. I was having trouble getting the picture into my post so I just attached it.

Went to a card show in Portland, OR this weekend and while I didn't get much, I was pleased about these. The top three are all Venezuelans, and while the Sadowski has some minimal back damage, the other two don't have any damage. Fun finds.

Was finally able to add Slaughter and Reese's rookies.

Came up on this one the other day. Pretty decent centering for a PSA 4.

Love the Venezuelan cards! Cool that you found those at a local show.

I'm going to try to make small purchases only between now and the National.

Beautiful card! Personally, I think the centering pump has been taken too far. Yes, centering is important, but so is registration. That card is not OC, it is a great example!

As rats said, it's the 1941 Double Play set. The set also has the true rookie of Rizzuto and Boudreau's rookie. It also has a lot of other HOFers, including Appling, DiMaggio, Greenberg, Feller, etc.

I love how PSA grades vintage cards these days, well as a buyer I do. Would much rather have these in a collector's grade than trying to find raw to grade.

Those look great, congrats. I'm with you on buying these rather than going raw. Are you going to crack them or leave them in the slab?

My HOF PC is going to be graded, so I am leaving them in. For right now I am concentrating on the 50's and 60's for any player in the HOF, just their regular card. I personally grade with CSG for the cost, but I buy any slab if I like the card inside. My collection would make any OCD collector feel sick to their stomach.

Cool focus, there are some of the all timers in those years. Are you going for one example of each HOFer or multiple? I'm with you on the slabs, I've got examples graded from all of the big four graders.
