Company Exclusive Autograph deals from the 90s to Panini era

Hey guys,

I was trying to think of what companies had exclusive rights to autographs with certain players from the lates 90s to the Panini era. I tweeted Deadshot to see if he knew but he said hes never seen a definitive list before and recommended making a thread here to put one together. Heres what we had gotten between the two of us - Anyone got anything else to add? Ill edit the list and update as people add more

Good call on Wade. I think he went Topps exclusive in either 2005 or 2006.

So this is how it got started in my head - who were the guys who only had UD autos their rookie year. Brandon Roy was another one who was UD exclusive his rookie year

Yeah..like Darius Miles..think he was a UD exclusive too his rookie year. Wanna say Lamar Odom was fleer/skybox his rookie year. I try to think of the sets from those years and i remember odom has a base spx not autod and his rookie autos are from Fleer (autographics, fresh ink)

Depending on how irrelevant you want to get, the other 2007 Topps exclusives were Thaddeus Young, Nick Young, Yi Jianlin and Brandan Wright

JJ Redick was also Topps in 2006

Lets get irrelevant as possible! Also this highlights how better UD was at getting rookie exclusives compared to Topps & Fleer

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remembered that Kobe was exclusive to Topps from 1997-1998.

I've always been curious if Yao Ming went UD Exclusive towards the end or shortly after his Rookie season, and if that may have affected the availability of some of his Topps RC Auto's?

I recall when 02-03 Finest first came out, Yao's #1 Auto Redemptions were honored for a short period of time, but soon stories began circulating of people being notified that due to contractual issues, Yao's Finest #169 Auto RC's were no longer available and they'd be receiving substitutions. Since then I've made a point of checking the number any time one would pop up, and I've never seen one numbered higher than the mid 320's. Nor am aware of any Non-UD Auto's after his Rookie Year at least until his retirement.

I'm not sure if this is the type of anecdotal info you're looking for, but there you go......

Iverson was a Topps guy along the time with Wade.

And I remember in 01-02 Topps had the team Topps stuff, with guys like Marion, Brand, Shaq, Baron Davis I believe and a few others.

I think youre right that Yao went UD exclusive after his rookie year. I didnt know about the Finest redemption issue, thats a fun anecdote ! I dont know why Topps wouldnt have been able to distribute them all if he had already signed them - maybe some got destroyed in transit?

I know Blake Griffin was exclusive with Panini.. because I went to a signing at The Upper Deck Store (Huntington Beach, CA) and he was not allowed to sign any Upper Deck cards! I had his SP Game Used RC /399 and they turned me away.

Since these names only sign to these brands at that time, I'd say they are exclusives.
SkyBox also licensed few 1994 USA Basketball Autographs during that time (Larry Johnson, Shawn Kemp, Dominique Wilkins, Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Dan Majerle, and Tim Hardaway)
