Oldest are the 2 cello boxes on the top left, 1979 Topps

I think your looking at the 1986 Topps wax case

Hobby box prices for 2013 Bowman Draft and 2017 Topps Chrome are pretty similar. Depends on how much you like Bowman vs an RC logo I suppose.

Thinking about players outside of Judge, 2017 has a bunch of tier-2 RCs. 2013 BDPP has a pretty lackluster 1st Bowman group, but a ton of decent RCs including Machado and Cole.

Default 1983 Michigan Test Pack unopened boxes the best
I've saved a few 1983 Michigan test pack boxes because I like their anti-tampering features. They can still be had for under $1000. It was pretty cool that the wrappers first appeared in Michigan back in 1983 for only 1 year and Topps then went back to the regular wax wrappers for the next 10 years until they permanently implemented the anti-tampering wrappers for good in the 1990's. Not that I own any, but when I look at unopened boxes from the 70's I just can't see spending that much knowing that someone could have easily opened and resealed the packs. I think these boxes will appreciate nicely in the future and being the only tamper resistant boxes from that era I like the long term potential of these boxes. I also like the fact that they were the very first crimped edge packs like we commonly see today and the anti-tampering should only get more appreciated as they increase in value. I could very well see myself investing in a 1973 unopened box for example if they were tamper resitant packs, but since they aren't I just wonder if they were already opened and resealed. My next choice would probably be 1979 or 1978 unopened boxes because of their scarcity.
