i believe the bonds opc rookie card in psa 10 is pricey.

Per PSA, Bonds PSA 10 is $19,000. Crazy.

1987 Bonds pop report:
Donruss 27,000 +
Fleer 26,000 +
Topps 21,000 +
Leaf 1,700
OPC 1,500

For me and I'm happy to have gotten it.

Wow - Congratulations!
Nothing better than when a highly prized, forever elusive gem finally ends up in your hands. I know only a little about this pack - like a 1-10 rarity scale it’s an 11, and it’s probably worth more than 90% of the full boxes posted here….. it is gorgeous/ enjoy!

scanning posts seems best way to store sealed wax is each box wrapped individually in single layer of bubble wrap, and stacked horizontally in a large tupperware container with lid on. Am i getting that right? I have about 50 90’s basketball boxes in banker boxes now so want a better way to help protect them from the elements.

It’s a good question - there’s been input here that collectively would make for a best practice - here is s summary:

~ Wrap each box in acid free tissue paper
~ Wrap bubble wrap over the tissue paper - bubbles facing out (very important)
~ put a label on the outside of what you’ve got - can’t see thru the tissue/ bubble combo
~ Store in a bin or drawer with the bottom of the box facing down - also very important!
~ don’t stack boxes more than 3-4 deep on each other
~ cool / dry / dark environment preferred

hockey unopened....seems to be the toughest sport to obtain for me. i guess hockey was not as popular as the other sports and vintage hockey mostly sold in canada so finding old hockey in usa is tough. here are a few examples from 1974-75 topps hockey.
wax box, vending box, and a single wax pack with the black 264 variant wrapper.

Awesome items Jason! Yes …. I agree / the older US Hockey Card Market offers far fewer available items at any given time for sale - especially quality 70’s Wax like this

Question for the people that don't collect the actual cards that are in these boxes, and only collect sealed wax: Are you guys virgins? Because it seems like there is something in your DNA or mental makeup that prevents you from opening or unwrapping anything. Just wonder if it is only for sealed wax or if that behavior extends to other parts of your life.

(it's a joke! You don't actually need to answer... you are living the collect what you like advice, which is great!)

I hope that's postcoitus. Otherwise, looking at your positioning, you might be doing something wrong!

1987 O Pee Chee baseball would likely have serious issues with gum disintegration severely damaging cards - & not just the card next to the gum.

I opened this thread today for a different reason. I have a ten year old box of Topps Chrome Baseball.

I have been wondering if anyone has seen any early 10s Chrome ripped lately, and whether it has storage/longevity issues.

Whether or not someone is into wax to collect or open, it's definitely about attitudes and behaviors that go beyond the hobby. Imo buy singles guys are okay eating from a buffet bar without a sneeze shield where guests are grabbing the food with their fingers. Wax buyers are the guys who only order from a menu, making sure to be polite so the staff doesn't rub their dinner rolls around the toilet.

Joke but only sort of. You really never know where those singles came from.
