Why is Fanatics lying about this? They claim they pulled it during a production test when these come one every 65 ish cases of jumbo and like 100 cases of hobby? It’s obvious they weren’t packed out. I don’t believe it’s some clever trick no one has figured out. Just a gimmick to keep people buying series 1.

If this is truly a marketing ploy, then it is a terrible one. This will backfire on them and not end well. I really doubt this is the case with their army of newly hired executives leading the way. I honestly think people are not looking hard enough.

Someone has probably figured it out and it buying them up before they let out the secret.

Would it really surprise you if they forgot to pack these out, given the recent history?

Yes, mistakes can happen and they owned up to it. If it happens again, either they need to fire all execs and contract printers/packers and go back to square 1, or they will have completely shot themselves in the foot.

With all the rushed product, potential staffing issues and lack of QC before the product hits the market, this may be a big concern for them, but no company lets you know their weaknesses publicly.

So these are the only 3 options that seem viable at this point.

1) Topps never packed them out (most likely)

2) They are only available in a retail SKU that hasn't been distributed or ripped yet (possible, but this means the hobby/jumbo pack odds are lying to us)

3) They are so cleverly hidden that no one has discovered them yet. Either hidden in the packaging or hidden on the card. (seems the least likely to me, but who knows, it's Topps)

Millennial temp workers.

If they can forget to separate prospects and veterans on a checklist, they can certainly forget to insert hits.

They also accidentally left the SP's out in another product. They know exactly what they are doing.

Maybe it's Hidden in Gyms. They have taken some 1/1 autos of the top stars past and present and put them in various gyms around the country. They are trying to look out for everybody's health. You can only find them after spending a certain amount of time working out.

Given the general health of card collectors, those cards are going to stay hidden forever.

It wouldn't, except that I don't think they'd have doubled down on it at the industry conference and said they were sure they were out there, that they checked boxes coming off the line and found one. They'd have made some weasily statement about how they were "looking into it" and left it at that.

They've doubled down before and been caught in the lie. They don't care if we catch them in a lie. They know that the hobby will gobble up the next product release either way.

Yeah, no accountability for Topps. They can get away with what ever they want. They learned their lessons from their response to the ginter mini woods.

Fanatics will do whatever they want, whenever and however. They can over promise and under deliver. They own the hobby. Its a monopoly. Unless there's a massive shift by hobbyist in not buying Topps' wax...nothing will change, any time soon. If Topps had competition, it would be a completely different story.

Based on their quality control, my guess would be it’s the odds to pull any gem mint card.

And THAT,...is certainly a talking-point worth referencing!

While Topps isn't a (by literal definition)... "monopoly", from a PRACTICAL sense, as it pertains to the sportscard hobby, they're just about as close of a thing to being one, as you can get! And the same reigns true for Poopnini, when it comes to NBA/NFL cards.

They've got us by the you-know-whats, and they can (and, DO!!) kick us in said, you-know-whats,....time & time again,...because they know that we'll be right back at their door,....come, next product release date,....waiting in line to take yet another....swift kick to the you-know-whats, because,....well; that's just what us cardboard addicts, do! Whether it be atrocious printing defects, missing hits, damaged cards, or more simply,...unacceptable, shoddy quality control, they know that unless we want to buy (essentially, from a monetary perspective) worthless & valueless, unlicensed products, we'll continue dealing with their nonsense, as we do, time & time, again. #justthefacts

4) packing/insertion error - as has been posted already, they all accidentally went in the same box/case

5) a door on a certain side of the building

6) they let the intern who spilled coffee on the Ginter mini sheet come back to work

This is 100% true unfortunately. I go to other boards online and some are completely oblivious to this situation. They just buy buy buy. That’s why Topps gets away it. The average guy ripping blasters in his truck posting on Reddit has no clue of Topps failures. Even the ones buying jumbos off EBay. Unfortunately not everyone is informed about the hobby as members of this board. I don’t even collect modern and know of all the crap that’s been going on lately. Every year it’s something and we think something will change but it’s the same ol crap. I don’t think the Fanatics take over will change anything for the better. I feel deja vu writing this because it seems we are doing this round table every year.
