Redemptions to get on a 2024 Big League cards, redemptions for social media follow backs from players. Kids in the target age range for this shouldn't be anywhere near social media but that's another discussion. I heard Topps will also be sending something like 30k free packs to little leagues to hand out to kids. Overall seems like steps to improve this product

Agreed.

The logo ruins the design for me....

I can’t wait to hear 30k kids mutter “WTH is this ****” at the exact same time after opening their pack of 8 bass (not trout) cards.

Are 8 year olds really that jaded today? This is a sad state of affairs. I would have been happy to have any pack of cards at that age. Of course the only options then were Topps, Fleer or Donruss.

I guess it probably depends on how much exposure individual kids have to cards these days. When I was 8 (45 years ago) I was thrilled to pull any player that I knew by name. My kids range from 8 to 21 and they’ve seen hundreds of autos, patch and shiny refractors as they’ve grown up so they really don’t give paper base a 2nd look. I’m sure there are plenty of kids that would appreciate them. My previous post was meant as a joke really.

Yeah I was 8 38 years ago so it was different times. I would probably feel different if I was a kid today with all the different cards. I have an 8 year old daughter and she doesn't care about cards and all the 8 year old boys I know only care about Pokemon cards.

online exclusive?

hard to believe there is no opportunity to preorder unless it is initially intended to be an online drop.

What about those of us who don't really care about vintage? I like modern card designs. I like refractors and parallels. I like getting cards that are close to mint condition instead of of beat up old cards and telling everyone how great the eye appeal is. I like collecting current players.

Really feels like a bit of a monkey's paw situation.

The Good
Big League is back after disappearing in 2022
If Topps is only going to keep one cheap product, better this than Opening Day (happy to lose another dumb pseudo-parallel set in favor of one with an original design on non-glossy stock)
Nice looking base design

The Bad
Horrible new logo
"hey fellow kids" style inserts (but not the 1992-inspired ones, those are awesome)
"Tier" and parallel-happy checklist destroys much of the appeal

They should have learned from Diamond Kings and not decided to try and one up them by cards in the base set of their lowest end product appearing one per case

An adult collector figure. Those super 7 figures aren’t for playing. They’re retro designed for people that played with 3 3/4 inch figures from the 80’s

Ugh. This is ugly as Balls.

Last year had a clean design with not a lot Of craziness parallel wise.

This is the perfect card. It's like Judge is pointing at the new, crappy logo and laughing at it while saying, "THIS? This is the logo that they're going with???"

No #@#@#@#@.

But these aren’t sold in the toy aisle of target. It’s in the aisle with the funkos and stranger things lunchboxes by the movie section.
