I wish they’d retire him after this season. He’s gotten so over the top and nonsensical this year. More so than in the past. Most fans I’ve talked to agree.

They should have promoted Goucher to TV instead of letting him go to Vegas. Then again, NESN is the network that blamed Orsillo for poor ratings and let him go to SD.

As well as Debrusk and likely Marchand for a few more years. The team will need an elite center though. I see them being competitive but not the juggernaut we see now.

I don't see any real scenarios where an elite center is either available or affordable to go to Boston anytime soon.
There are none in their system and they are low on both assets and cap space to acquire one unless a deal falls into their lap.
Elite level UFA centers under 29 are few and far between.
Dylan Larkin this summer if Detroit doesn't lock him up?
Auston Matthews after next year in 2024? He'll probably be the League's highest paid player when he signs.
Leon Draisaitl the year after in 2025?
There are several RFAs coming up in the next couple of years like EP40 and Trevor Zegras but would be very hard for the Bs to compete for these guys.

the bruins have 2/3 future 1s. The leafs and lightning have a combined 2 between them the next 3 years. 2/3 teams are going to watch the conf title game and beyond w/their futures in total shambles.

Really makes you wonder if the door is open for an ottawa/detroit/buffalo to have a monster offseason and become the future of the division and conference.

He used to be decent, even if he was one of the biggest homers in all of broadcasting. But now he's slow, misses plays, gets players wrong all the time, and rarely adds descriptive material. Even Brick sounds exasperated at times. He absolutely needs to go.

So do Chris Drury and Kyle Dubas keep chugging the happy juice to try and counter this?
Only Carolina seems to be keeping it real and not all hell bent for leather. Tampa dumped a boatload of picks for the mighty difference maker Tanner Jeannot (barf). Even Jersey has been steady in comparison.

Jeannot had a solid rookie season. As a Bolts fan I’m not at odds at all with the pickup. Boots management seems to have a good eye for under the radar talent as Nick Paul was an absolute gamer in the playoffs last season.

Oh I get Brisebois' reasoning with how Tampa values their picks with their draft position so late in each round and the current strength of his team vs the other contenders in the division. Yes, Tanner will fill the role and although having a down year he will very likely excel with the Lightning.
But 5 picks and Cal Foote? Seems more than a tad excessive. David Poile must have a file full of photos of some of these GMs that have been knocking on his door this trade season.
Kudos to Bolts management for having the balls to do it.

Is that contract actually a steal? He's a good play. Is he $11m per good?

Again, not debating. I just don't know why it would be a steal relative to peers with his numbers/age.

This team is fun to watch - period!

I was a bit worried with some of the new additions and how they would fit with the team chemistry - however, so far - it appears not only do they fit ... they are excelling.

Fastest to 100 - Great accomplishment
Pasta locked up - Even better

The game against the Sabers last night - the entire team was still skating hard with 40 seconds left in the game!

With that TEAM mentality - I am excited for the rest of the season.

There was a lot of talk that Pasta could get $13M on the open market.

$13M USD? Doesn't McDavid make $12.5?

Yup but he signed a bit under market several years ago.
MacKinnon kicks in at $12.6M next year.
Marner and Tavares at $11M.
Matthews at $11.6M will pass McDavid with his next contract.
I can easily see Pasta getting an offer in the $13M range on the open market.

Bruins make Rangers look lame. Too bad Dumba isn’t in Boston.

It certainly isn't the hometown discount that other players have taken to stay in Boston and that Pasta took the first time. However, it will depend on how much the salary cap rises and when. When Bergeron, Rask, Krejci signed their deals after the Cup year they were a lot of money at the time, but by the end of the deal with the Cap rising they seemed like a great value. What it does do, is certainly give them elite building blocks for the future. Macavoy, Lindholm, Pasta are all locked up for a long time and still young enough to justify the length of their contracts. So yes, they don't have a lot of young prospects but they have done a great job getting players from US College Hockey that weren't necessarily drafted and when you have a top 5 Defensemen and a top 5 winger locked up it makes everything else much easier.

fluto who covers them for the athletic had a good writeup of the 9 things for the rest of the season. The top focuses are health, figuring out where bertuzzi comes in and tweaking things like the power play.

sounds grz is going to spend the playoffs in the press box. too bad. probably frederic if they're healthy as well.

also noteworthy that craig smith passed the minimum games number so he's stanley cup name eligible.

ESPN has floating nameplates again over the players head for the idiots that can't follow hockey again. Has this made it to the NFL and NBA yet for the people in Kzakakstahn that can't follow along?

I don’t know about Freddy sitting. He’s brought a lot of energy to that fourth line most of the season.

Ultimate bad beat tonight….I had a $25 bet credit @ Caesar’s expiring at midnight so after the 1st period with b’s up 2-0 I bet the $25 on a prop at +3500 odds that 2-0 would be the final score…..Nosec’s empty netter with 6 effing seconds left cost me $875
