This one looks like the case where PSA is a 10 when BGS grades tougher on centering??? Looks like the target to hide flaws behind PSA’s lenient grading

I sent in a cosmic Julio auto at the value plus level. Got upcharged (which I was happy to pay) when it gemmed.

What's up with the crazy logo fractor pricing on JRod??? Other players I'm tracking have the same cards going for roughly the level of a flagship rainbow foil... yet JRod these are going for 10x that price.

Which is more likely?
-- other players come up to JRod's level
-- JRod falls to the level of other players
-- JRod somehow stays unique and is the one oddly priced player
-- other?

Doesn't show up as obvious in certain lighting. it's not a tangible surface defect or rough spot. Just a flaw in the glass, so to speak.

If you're looking to buy one raw to grade, GOOD LUCK! I got my one card from this set and I'm done. Navigating all the possible ACTUAL damage these could sustain, and having to go through ebay authentication, plus all the hidden flaws they could have. Gems will be tough.

Depends. Could be the centering, could be a slight ding on a corner or along an edge. Could even be a minor surface issue.

That's what you meant, right?

That’s never the problem. It’s always the grader is having a bad day or pop control.

The “grader had a bad” thing always cracks me up. I guess the thinking is that a grader in a bad mood is harsher on grades… to make other people as unhappy as they are? And a grader in a good mood just waves the Magic 10 Gem Mint Wand around everywhere to spread happiness amongst collectors? A lot of us here have bad mood days and are still able to perform our jobs.

It probably doesn't happen as much as people think but I'm sure it happens to some extent. Nobody is 100% perfect at their job.

Alternatively, would it kill graders to provide an explanation?

It has a shorter print run relative to other logo fractor cards? I thought it was a normal card in the base set?

I confess I didn't watch the facts around this card very closely though

It's a base image variation (though there's no base LF version of the card).

The print-run is estimated to be in the low 200s. If I remember correctly, BO statisticians said somewhere in the 220-240 range.

The recent price rise caught me by surprise too. It was in the $700-$1000 range for quite some time.

That would be great! CGC does it for comics. Just makes sense.

Most other grading companies do, by providing subgrades that break down surface, centering, corners and edges.

And yet people swear by using PSA, which provides no explanation whatsoever- and then those people complain about not understanding why every card isn’t a 10-Gem Mint.

If you provide an explanation, then the whole "resubmitting" cottage industry takes a hit.

you know it isnt. lol

people need to stop being anal with their cards.

Mint State is perfectly fine for cards, especially something that was made post-pandemic.

Hahaha, that's the only sad part about the post-pandemic "collecting" world.

People being overly concerned about a card's grade than the actual card itself (shoot, same individuals would probably take a dinged up card if you just placed it in a Gem-Mint 10 slab).
