Default Tips for starting a sports cards youtube channel

As some of you already know, I run my weekly sports cards podcast, but I am looking to expand to the youtube space. What are some things y'all look for in a sports cards channel? What are some needs for this space? Currently I am going to be releasing a video version of my episodes and then releasing some youtube exclusive content later in the week (I release episodes on mondays).

I'm excited to hear your suggestions!

I like to watch packs getting opened.

I would focus on what you collect and hope to pull in the people with similar interests.

It may not get you the biggest audience but there are already tons of general sports card shows on YouTube that all talk about the same thing. Unless you are going to really differentiate yourself it is probably better to just stay in your lane.

Good luck!

Whatever you do, you MUST introduce yourself with "it's ya boy..."

Haven’t you already made this same thread twice already?

I think this is a great approach. Your podcast is well-researched and I look forward to seeing what's in store for the future. Keep up the great work!

As others have said, making videos about things you like is your best bet. I started a channel a little over two months ago now but have been doing videos over on IG for a few years. I've found that I do the same type content (hobby discussion and showing off my collection) but focus a little more on video editing, creating graphics, etc.. now that my computer is part of the mix and not just my phone. So it's more time consuming but i'm able to make better content because of it.

Bottom line though, don't get too caught up in doing what you think people will want to watch and just do what interests you. It will come across more genuine and you won't get burnt out as easy.

All I know is that there was a Tube channel that had 2K-3K subs for a while, in 3 months over 20K+ subs. All I have to say is words, or titles can give you subs, but you have to put quality than words and putting your face into the camera to get mega subs.

Basecard collector investor dealer on his latest Q&A video said he put too much effort/reshoots/scripting into his first vids that nobody, but his family watched. I'd suggest watching that vid. https://youtu.be/4SIVwWRkZy0?t=1473
