Default ANYONE REMEMBER these moments in card history...

1. Topps Rip Parties with the Ripmaster and Rip Girls--with on-card autographs inserted in premium Topps products...

2. Old video of those guys I believe in another country opening like 50+ boxes or cases of UD Exquisite collection and pulling some crazy stuff...

3. The Hitler hates Upper Deck manufactured patches video...linked below for your pleasure if you haven't seen before...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp6OuXSj8u8

Hahah...
I remember all of these.

The late 00s were a weird time in collecting.

Cards weren't cool. Influencers didn't run things. It was just card nerds being card nerds.

2) was attyball. Son of some banking exec in the phillippines that stole money and laundered it in hundreds of sealed exquisite cases, which were subsequently busted and sold off as singles. I think he was later apprehended in Canada. Can imagine how much those singles hauls would fetch in today's market. Probably talking in upwards of 50+ million easily. Stacks and stacks of Jordans, logomans, 1/1 RPA's, and other Exquisite grails.

Chris at Cardsinfinity....

Before group breakers, and influencers, and hype beasts.... this guy was busting wax online for folks around the country at his little shop in North Carolina.

He probably helped me stay connected to the hobby more than anybody for a long period in which I wasn't that involved. The way he opened wax for people without cringey reactions or sales pitches was something I appreciated.

Also, I see the RIP next to Mr. NEs name. I'm not aware of this, but if so, that's very unfortunate. What kind of made his breaks fun was the total no hype, local card shop feel.

agreed! i had been out of the card game for about 7 years until i randomly stumbled on his 07-08 exquisite basketball breaks. i kept watching his breaks (all of which were personal breaks at the time) and eventually became a customer. he was/is a pioneer in the online breaking game.

sadly ne passed away - chris mentioned it to me a few years ago when i was asking about him and tattoo. ne was a legend back then ripping personal high end boxes and showing 'no emotion' lol.

on other name to add is arplatinum - he's still around on youtube but doesn't really do card breaks.

Rip and Pull was well before any of those mentioned. Probably the first box breaker on youtube format.

Chris is a legend. He basically had the idea for group breaking except he was breaking boxes for individual people. I remember the owner of my LCS telling me that he met Chris at some sort of convention and all the other LCS owners thought it was a crazy idea. Like why would someone buy a box and not want to enjoy opening it themselves?

Sad to hear. I’m in the same boat with y’all. Had lots of escape watching those and also got me back into the hobby and never looked back.

There was also a doctor who lived in an apartment and had an insane basketball collection. Happen to remember him or his username? He was ripping high end weekly and hitting crazy stuff. I think he eventually sold mystery packs and didn’t deliver and disappeared.

Does anyone else remember the guy with the NY accent that would open high-end products in front of a pillow propped up on his couch?? His name may have been Vinny…

I remember in one of his last videos a few years ago that he alluded to some lingering health problems

Man thank you for that one I probably never would have remembered that guy without a prompt.

I gotta say I'm loving this trip down memory lane with a lot of you OG members who joined 2008-2014 when collecting cards was not cool at all.

I’m glad you guys remember him too - I can’t find anything about him online. He posted in the breaks section here from time to time, but that was years ago.

If you find him, please post a link. I’ll do the same
