Wonder why Montgomery Club folks weren't given any priority on these?

It's not to each their own. I'm saying it's factual that your logic never translates to actual pricing.

Can't imagine these sell for over $250 on a regular basis without autographs being much easier to get then most of us think they will be. Without autographs being common no chance these can pass Topps Chrome Sapphire. What is funny though is there will probably be a single day or two with more ebay sales of Update Sapphire boxes than the first month of Topps Chrome Sapphire combined.

Other than the obvious price difference, these feel like Logofractors all over again

So if I'm a kid wanting to build a set of this and he asks his mom if she wouldn't mind spending $4K to help him do it, that's logical? I know a lot people here are just in this for the money but there are plenty out there who do enjoy COLLECTING.

Granted, sapphire cards are nice and on card autos are nice, but at these odds and the money spent, this was an easy pass. I'm in the minority on this thread but I'll spend my money on Bowman's Best.
Bowman's best was about $350 a box last year and the auto's sell for a fraction of bowman chrome auto's and parallels are tough to move. You're better off Spending $4000 on sapphire vs bowman's best.

if you were a kid wanting to build a set of shiny cards through thousands of dollars worth of breaking, regardless of value, I would tell you to focus more in school.

Agreed. Besides 1 SC hobby box, about a dozen Update hangers and unfortunately, 3 Update Chrome megas, this is the first thing I've purchased since Logofractor. Fingers crossed that there are no issues with our orders.

But for most people there is a big difference between spending $150 per box and making $5-$15 versus spending $130 and making $25-$35 a box.

Allen Ginter X most would agree was a solid price at $75 per box. It lasted around 7 hours. Mainly because the limit was 3 per account. If it was 10 per account, they would have sold out much faster.
LOL. Let's just chalk this up as "I told you."

Last year was 200 preorder from LCS then 225-250 on release day. I bought it for the novelty value and wouldn't buy it again, not because I took a bath on it but hardly anyone can say exactly what the Bowman's Best brand is about (not even the guy at the LCS).

If you are purely talking about set building then sure…it makes no sense to spend $4000 on boxes to try and build a set. Not a ton of people are building sets of this by buying boxes.

Also, if you are buying this for $138 a box….worst case scenario within the first week of release:

30 base cards of absolute garbage players - $1-$2 each (so $30-$60 total)
2 parallels of absolute garbage players - $5-$10 each (so $10-$20 total)

You are out $50-$75. However, I can’t imagine you getting ALL crappy players. Some random base rookies will be $5-$10 each right out the gate. Even some vets will bring decent money. It just seems worth the risk at that $138 price.

I was ready to pay $300 for these. Pleased that there were no major issues making the purchase.

I'm super-bummed I missed this (drops that happen while I'm teaching suck), but absurdly happy that things moved in this direction. I love that they went on-card for the autos even though they will be impossible to hit. This means grail-level rookies without ugly stickers. This should be ripped heavily at this price meaning singles galore!
