At this point you seem to have decided to submit with PSA. Like everyone else here, I highly doubt it will get a 9, but good luck. Report back when you get the results!

amazing that card has been sitting in a shoe box for decades.
Good luck if you decide to sent it to PSA, but I agree that you should crack it open and send it in. Too much possibility for eyeball bias (I see an 8, convince me otherwise..), and it would give you the opportunity to remove any surface dust should that be the case. |

Nice find.
If PSA is your second choice opinion, makes little sense to set your minimum cross at a 9. Also, not sure if it's your photos but there does appear to be some staining on the reverse. Not that PSA catches anything better than others but take a look above the Fleer logo and below the stats (pro totals); surface looks stained or dirty.

It's a blazer for sure, sans the centering. But centering is a big factor.
If you crack and submit, i think you have a very good shot at an 8 as the edges, corners and surface look great. And i give you a 5-10% chance at a 9 if the grader is lenient on centering. But in terms of eye appeal, definitely a blazer. |

Back. Top-left, you see some red ink bleed into the white stock. But that's very minimal and overall, card is a blazer. The back has that pristine, white stock, which indicates it was never exposed to light for any sustained period of time.

I could see this getting an 8.5 possibly... But there is a question as to what is wrong with the surface. Regardless, you CANNOT send it in for a cross in this holder except if you put a min PSA 8 cross, but why predisposition your grader with the BGS flip grades. And also, you'd submit it expecting to get a PSA 8 (which is still worth more than a BGS 8), so you'll only pay $600 to grade it. If it gets a better grade, then they will send you an upcharge email to pay the extra $400, and you can rub it in our faces!!
Start watching those how to crack a BGS slab videos on Youtube! |

Great, please let us know if you cracked it out and what service level (grading fee) you submitted it at? Were you upcharged?

Wow, congrats!
How many times does a card in a BGS 8 crossovers to a PSA 9? I still recall when BGS was absolutely the toughest graders when they first started. They lost their way over the years unfortunately. |

Congrats. Those razor corners and edges did the 9 and made up for the centering.

Good call on attempting the cracking and submitting to PSA. A 9 seems fair.

Wow, yes, great job "taking the swing". While reading this thread, I admit I doubted it would cross to a 9 (along with most here). That said, if ever there is a bgs to psa crossover candidate, it's a card with the lowest subgrade on centering. Kudos, it's an awesome card and it looks fantastic in that slab.
The only question I have is why did you send it to beckett in the first place? To save a couple bucks? |
