Default Pricing INSANITY

Goodness. The presale price for one 2022 Bowman Draft Baseball Jumbo Box at Steel City is $459.95

Between the glut of new products and prices like this, how much longer can you afford this hobby?

A long time. As long as gamblers and breakers exist. Prices are down across the board, but the hobby seems to be in a fine enough place now. That being said, there’s still room for prices to get lower.

Based on the price increases from Fanatics this isn’t surprising.

These COVID Bois are gonna get rekt. These prices won’t hold long term. Fanatics knows this. They’re just grabbing money while they can. In the mean time, focus of collecting and stick with singles.

Bowman Draft is a different beast. The quality of Draft Class and International signings make a big impact. With Bowman Chrome, there has been well over 200 cases broken on Blez baseball in the last 3 weeks. They will likely do the same business. In Houdini's break, the 10 case lightning draft just ended and the prices went silly mainly due to the 100 case reservations.

Yes, and ironically those lots will be won by breaker participants who will themselves be back to flipping burgers at some time next year.

When this first started selling for presale a week ago the jumbo case price was $3400. That's $425 a box. That is not a terrible price for this product.

Now it has gone up a little as we get closer to release. No surprise. It should fall a little a week or two after release. That will also be no surprise.

In 5-10 years, maybe but that's the joy and risk of it. Nothing is guaranteed. Heck, I bought two superfractors and they both retired within a year, so anything is possible. I gotta see what they are doing though now that you brought it up.

There are a lot of similarities between the people selling MBAs and the people selling sports cards, strangely enough. More grifters in higher education though…

I only buy singles and the occasional blaster. It’s easy to stay in the hobby, enjoy it all and not line the pockets of these breakers that are the largest reason prices are going up.

The occasional blaster satisfies the ripping urge.

COVID prices have also gotten me to trade a lot more and not buy and sell. A long lost art of the hobby, and the reason they are called trading cards.

Just buy some Heritage Minor League instead. $45 bucks a box and two on-card autos. Same guys.
