Great songs by hard rock/metal bands

I love hard rock/metal bands. Quite a few of them have been successful pulling off different sounds along their career (Deftones, Alice in Chains etc...)

Post some of your favorite songs from this genre. Especially if it's one that's different from their core sound.. Include thoughts as to why you like the song if anything comes to mind.

I'll start. This isn't different from the band's core sound but I love the singing from heavy to clean, the instruments, and I got my wife hooked.

It's hard to fit a guy like Devin Townsend in any particular box because he's a bit of a "freak" when it comes to talent and vocal range. That said, I think that Empath is one of the most complete and beautifully heavy records I've heard.

Way too many fave songs to pick just 1. Of actual hard rock/Heavy metal (trying not to venture into thrash/prog/osdm/grunge) I would say my fave complete albums were

In no way is this a great song due to its musicianship but for its length it deserves a mention Iron Butterfly and in a Goddadavida it was sort of the innovator of the long heavy metal song.
