Default Is the Philly Dec card show worth a weekend trip?

Hello. The card shows in my area have gotten rather flat. I was seeing that the Philly card super show is 3 weeks away. Since it is only a couple hours away I was wondering for people who have gone to it how do these shows compare to some of the top all weekend shows? Is it on or close to the level of a Chantilly VA show? I know it won't be at Dallas show level but it seems pretty packed.

I had several dealers at Chantilly tell me Philly is a better show. I am thinking about making a 2 day trip up there myself for the first time

Lots of vendors. Some from all over the country. All depends on what you’re looking for but you should be able to find about anything. Interested to see how the pricing is going to be considering the current state of the market

How about lower end stuff? Do people have dollar boxes with Hoops Premium Derrick Jones type players in them?

I consider Philly and Chantilly to be around the same. DIfferent dealers.

The Philly Show and Chantilly are the two best shows on the East Coast. My table will be filled with everything less than $1 and is going to be absurd. I plan on leaving with nothing.

Did I buy a box plus from you at Chantilly? All baseball.

What is your booth number? I love looking through tables like this and finding inventory for COMC.

We are going to have a setup with about 20 discount boxes and at least 10-12 fresh $1 boxes for those that like to dig. Booths 217/316

I will be in the 911-913-915 group along the wall. Very easy to find. Best value tables in the whole show.

Thanks,

Rob

Went to the show on Saturday traveling up from Virginia. Was it worth the drive up there? Well spend over hundred dollars and stayed there for about 4 or 5 hours so I would say so. I have heard that these are the shows to go to for vintage and man people weren't lying. One of the few shows where the number of vintage was close to the same as the current stuff. The selection of wrestling and current basketball was kind of weak but unfortunately that is a norm on bigger shows. But plenty of good stuff to get

Now some negatives that to be honest is less on them the promoter and more on the building:

1. Unless you can find a spot on the floor there was literally no place to sit. And by noon on Saturday that was even becoming hard The concession stand area was just a bunch of people standing around eating and drinking. Doesn't give you the ability to take breathers frankly. Although I heard there was a beerfest on the hall next to the hall with the card show so maybe that could have been a good relaxing place.
2. This is a problem with Chantilly shows that luckily got fixed and is one of the perfect scenarios now but once the autograph guests started showing there were section of the card show that were almost impossible to get near. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing for a dealer in that section
3. The main reason I went to the show was because I thought the Virginia shows were getting rather stale. Well I would probably 1/3 or more of the dealers at the Philly shows were the people from Virginia shows. Dealers who aren't really known for keeping their inventory fresh. Understandable given the location and how big the show was. But a nitpick I guess

Still think it is a really good show to go to in the general area. Definitely can see why it is one of the top major shows in the Northeast.
